Storage Heaters
What with the price of gas bottles soaring we wondered about storage heaters. Anyone have them and can you recommend them or not?

Ok, I dont know if they can be used for storage heaters but I recently replaced the gas mushroom heater on my terrace with an infra red electric one from www.marbellamist.com

Storage heaters would be OK if you are in for most of the day to benefit from the heat they give out and of course they are still warm during the night too whilst re-heating. They are a good idea for use on the white meter tariff in UK does Spain have the same thing?
Friends of ours have installed ceramic electric wall heaters and are pleased with them. Don't know if they have had an electric bill since installing them though.
Mobile calor gas heaters are good if you are resident as you are there to ventilate the rooms but not a good idea for a holiday only apartment.
Gas bottles seem to last for ages anyway so I reckon they are still good value even if they have had a price increase.

Yes, its called Tarifa Nocturna.safeashouses wrote: They are a good idea for use on the white meter tariff in UK does Spain have the same thing? .
It operates just like the UK - peak from 7/8am to 11/12 pm depending on winter/summer time.
Peak rate is about 3% more than normal but off peak is 55% off.
We manage to consume 45% off peak with a bit of planning - saves about 250 euros a year for us. With storage heating it would be even more.

We've got storage heaters in the house we're renting. They're OK but the ones we've got are not on a timer, so if you forget to fiddle with the load/unload dials last thing at night, you end up with no heat the next day.
Also, we're on the night tariff but we haven't found it very effective because the power available to us actually decreases during the cheap hours (e.g. our tumble dryer needs to run for twice as long overnight).
A lot of people are going on about bajo consumo radiators. How are they different from normal radiators? Any good?
