COASTALESS I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!

Postby Mal » Wed Feb 08, 2006 2:29 pm

Yes its a catchy name, and to hear the advert on the radio, it suggests a bargain might be found there... but not so, not so!

I went to the Estepona Costaless shop last week and was absolutely horrified at the prices there, and I do mean HORRIFIED! OK I know that the products are imported and need to be priced to accommodate that, however when something is priced at 99p and retailing here for nearly 4 euros that's wrong, and clearly daylight robbery! A tin of beans - that you can buy in any Supersol for about 99 cents was over 2 euros. A pack of turkey or chicken drummers (disgusting but apparently popular) priced at £1.99 retailing here for 8 euros!! UNBELIEVABLE, now I do know that things from the UK do have a price tag, but come on its a bit 'rich' to call this chain of shops anything with the word 'less' in it. - COSTABOMB or COSTARMANDALEG is more appropriate.

I went to the Arroyo de la Miel Costaless last October and was also shocked by the prices.
Some of the products they sell are also on sale in Carrefour but for a lot less in Carrefour.

heinz beans in mercadona are 96 cents. mercadona baked beans are 44c. dunnes stores baked beans are 55 cents.

its ridiculus really isn´t it. they claim to purchase everything at "shop" prices in the uk.. when really they probably have a warehouse in the uk and pay wholesale price.. making the mark up EVEN more disgusting!!!

prices will remain at this level... until consumers stop buying.. and while there are enough stupid english people in spain who will pay those prices, then they will stay that price.

its only because people MUST have heinz beans, hp sauce, kellogs corn flakes. if you want this stuff, go back to england.

if a spanish person came to the uk and wanted to buy, i dunno... a spanish food product, "we´d" probably try and charge them a fiver for something that costs 50cents here.. claiming it has to be imported...

theres no difference really is there.. as long as theres customers, there will always be products - its supply and demand.

if you come anywhere near alhaurin or coin on a friday there is 2 or 3 places i can show you / point out that sell english products at.. *almost* reasonable rates.

If you go further up the coast to Turre in Almeria there's a shop called Sunshine Wholefoods that sells at UK prices + a max of 20%, the cost of transport. A couple of weeks ago I even saw a product in there selling for less than the UK price after exchange rate :D Before you all rush up there though you won't find HP sauce or baked beans - they specialise in organic & vegetarian foods, the kind of stuff that can be difficult to find even in the UK sometimes :?
