trade jobs in Spain

Postby P.A.D. » Mon Feb 27, 2006 4:31 pm

Question from P.A.D.'s Husband!!!

Am moving to Spain next year to live permanently. And am currently thinking of re-training for some kind of trade. Can anyone advise me if there is any particular trade which has a shortage of labour in Spain. Specifically Malaga province..

Thanks

Andy

According to the UGT there is a surplus of construction workers in Andalucia caused by a huge influx from Melilla. But if you're seeking to train in the UK for a transferable trade I would suggest tiling or decorating. And don't forget to learn Spanish too!

private security guards don't seem to have these restrictions, as we discovered when we lost a visiting teenage who decided to skip off down to Port at midnight.

He was unable to make him self understood to the armed guards in either Spanish or English, we came to the conclusion that they where Russian/Bulgarian/eastern European from the words he could remember them shouting at as they drove off leaving him in the middle of the street at 1.00 in the morning.

It appears that they will take anyone on the "armed support" security companies in Nueva Andalucia.

Thanks Dane...
We've both been speaking Spanish since before 1999 when we bought our first place out there. I know some people on here are very presumptious though!!!

if security is the way to go, I suppose he'll have to learn the Spanish for Halt, who goes there?!!!

Any idea (For me this time) what the job prospects will be like at the airport once the new/bigger/improved version has opened?

airport? no idea! Usual checkout girls, shop assistants type of stuff maybe a British liason person of somesort? See what there is and maybe suggest something that would provide a value added service.
