I don't have anything to hide but I have bothered to do a little research on the whole process and not only is it unworkable and expensive it's likely to be the Government's next white elephant given their inability to implement and bring any large scale IT project in on time or budget.spanish hopes wrote:Naive posibly, honest definately, what do you have to hide. The human rights guerillas are much more of a danger to the safety of the human race than for an honest man to carry ID.
The level of information that the Government wants to include far exceeds and other similar system in the world and as has been proven time and time again in countries which have ID cards - it neither stop nor deters terrorists or criminals. Indeed, the potential for identity theft is only increased with this level of information and you only have to look at other countries to see this in operation.
If you'd read my post above, you'd realise how ludicrous the proposed system is due to the card not being a mandatory possession and at least initially, a voluntary process.
If you'd give me one example where an ID card would prevent terrorism I'd be prepared to reconsider but you can't. It wouldn't have stopped the bombings in London as they were British nationals and it wouldn't have stopped September 11th as all of those terrorists were allowed into the country on working visas.
So, can you explain to us how ID cards are such a good thing and how they are going to stamp out terrorism and crime?
Dear Mr. Hopes,
We know, of course that you have nothing to hide, except, perhaps your blue hair (from your dyslexic quote of me I am reluctantly forced to conclude that the blueness is not just confined to the hairs on your head) but you still avoid expressing an opinion on having your personal details on a system that experts assert will be vulnerable to abuse and may actually make identity theft easier.

Because it doesn't bother me one way or the other. Expert opinion can be found for anything and everything so I will not quote 'Experts' in order to try to score brownie points and win a daft argument.
Identity Theft, if someone wants to be me they must be pretty sad and definately hard up.
Vulnerable to Abuse, we all are, as long as there are abusive people out there (present company accepted of course).

Grouser, Spanish Hopes is devoid of opinion, I doubt he knows what the word means, I have never, ever, read an original opinion or thought from him, he has rhetoric (Spanish, look it up) and sarcasm and some very old and tired quotes ripped off from other scources, but opinions, for those you first need to be able to correlate your thought process, never happen!Grouser wrote:Dear Mr. Hopes,

Read back through some of their posts to get my gist alan. You should have them saved on your computer. Look in the file which is called 'Original though over used quotes.' it is a shared file, shared by all of your personnae.I have never, ever, read an original opinion or thought from him, he has rhetoric (Spanish, look it up) and sarcasm and some very old and tired quotes ripped off from other scources
This hurts me very much but I have to apologise to "Spanish hopes" I have often thought him to be dishonest (as most prison officers are, otherwise how does all the contraband end up in the jails) but today I am proud of him for telling the truth, quote, If someone want to be me, they must be sad and definitely (that's with an "i" Spanish, remember the spell checker) hard up, unquote!!
Not us alan YOU. everyone else can see through your incompetent attempts at re inventing yourself. You apparently can't, that is why you repeat yourself in the same style the same maner using the same words, everytime you get a new login ID. We are not clever in being able to spot you, you are just too stupid to hide.to us
I'm sorry for my confusion, I didn't realise you we're speaking on behalf of everyone on the forum!!spanish hopes wrote:Not us alan Just me. everyone else can see through your incompetent attempts at re inventing yourself. Read it again dimwit, you referred to US as if you were speaking for the forum instead of just yourself and your teeny tearaway gang. You never were much good at twisting words and when you steal a phrase to use here and there you normally get it wrong. Can assume from your kamikaze tirade that you have another exotic ID in waiting? I will get my neice to look through. She is the only child of 3 that I know so she should spot you in about three postings.
I have read it again and it clearly states that "Everyone else can see etc, etc et boring cetera, as I said I didn't realise you were speaking on behalf of the forum, they "everyone else" should be very gratefull to you for commenting on their behalf, enter Maggie, Bored to tears etc, remember to log out first though!spanish hopes wrote:Read it again dimwit, you referred to US as if you were speaking for the forum instead of just yourself and your teeny tearaway gang. Err, if it doesn't bother you one way or the other and you're not bothered about winning a daft argument then what have your last five posts been about then?spanish hopes wrote:Because it doesn't bother me one way or the other. Spanish Hopes, I must say I hadn't seen it as a daft argument. I had thought we were exploring the pros and cons of ID cards. If you don't take on board expert opinion, when you come to form your own ideas in areas where you don't have specialist expertise youself, how on earth can you make an informed decision as to what you think is right?
