Causing Offence?

Postby Chrissi » Tue Mar 28, 2006 8:45 pm

I am thinking of erecting a huge flag pole in my front garden and flying the cross of St George. Do you think this would be deemed offencive to the natives?

and don't take any notice of the crass replies  from those who have nothing better to say

Go on then , I'll ask the question.

Why do you want to erect a flagpole and a St Georges flag? Did you have one in England?

Why would you do that? are you insecure about your background?

Thanks for that reply sheilap. My neighbours should be fine as we already have German, Finish, and Swedish flags down the road. As for the other replies:

aligato; My local council informed me that I needed planning permission and would probably not get it as it WOULD be offencive to "Other" (maybe they meant you)

SadK; If I where insecure about my background why would I want to advertise it on the top of a flag pole?

Blubba; wrong, so wind your neck in and enough with the name calling OK!

Personally, I would not want to fly a flag, but I'm not sure why it should be deemed offensive. However, not sure why anyone would want to fly a flag of a country they have presumibly turned their back on! ;-) Sounds a bit like divided loyalties! If you are proud to be in Spain, fly a Spanish one. That shouldn't upset anyone.

People who choose to live or holiday in a country other than the country they were born are not deserters...to even suggest is Causing Offense.
Do you think this would be deemed offencive to the natives?

well there you go then -
the motto of the great state of nevada is
"todo por la patria" (in english, of course) and
the flag has a colorful crest in the upper left-hand corner of
a beautiful prussian blue field...
i'm gonna order one from governor guinn
and fly it from the lightning rod on the roof...

Will they be pole dancers as I've heard this can be a very exiting spectacle?
