I have tried to find Triple Sec out here, even in French supermarkets like Carrefour, with no success. I am having withdrawal symptoms. Does anyone know who stocks it near Benalmadena please?

strawberries

Postby gavilan » Fri May 11, 2007 2:50 pm

thanks for all the suggestions ... strawberry smoothies jogged my memory ... so reduced half of the fruit to a pulp, mixed with 2 small pots of natural yoghourt, added some sugar and the rest of the berries chopped roughly ... now in the freezer ... waiting to be tasted when frozen ... vamos a ver ...

Strawberries can be frozen, just as the other berries, but then need to go into the slushy recipes just as the other berries do when defrosted. example, jelly, desserts, sweetners and of course the hmmm lucious coctails, or strawberry ice cubes for those coctails (mulched cubes or whole for show).

Alaninspain,
isn't Triple Sec the same as Cointreau, I love Margaritas and when I couldn't get Cointreau, used to buy that.
Actually I'm sure I've not spelled that right! Could be the fact that I helped finish a bottle of Kahlua off last night and am rather befuddled.

Yes, Triple Sec is a good cheap alternative to Cointreau but it lacks the intense Orange flavour of Cointreau.

Larios do a Triple Sec at the correct strength (40% - beware lower strength versions) in a typical square bottle with a yellow label. It isn't always easy to find and it seems to be less easy over the last 12 months.

Alcampo usually stock it - or at least they do in Motril!

(Roali) The cash and carry (Roali) on the Camino de coin sells triple sec and is open to public , no card necessary.

You can tell all the boozers on this forum, I have noticed the Spanish love their whisky and coke, any brand and of course all enormous measures.
Carduu,(correct spelling?) a 12 year old single reserve malt is supped like lemonade, saw one guy drink 3 glasses, he worked as a driver, although not that night I hope. Anyway, at least he didn't add coke to it.

Someone told me Spain had bought up all the supplies from U.K. and it was not possible to buy it here anymore. Just in case, I have been having my share when in Spain, absolutely fantastic, and no hangover!

Lorraine. Thank you, I will be on their doorstep tomorrow at dawn. I believe if anything is worth doing it is worth doing well, even cocktails, or should I say especially cocktails.

Concorde,
The correct spelling is Cardhu :-)

And another nice way to enjoy it (or any other "light" malt - not Islay malts) is mixed on a 50/50 basis with Drambuie :-)

It makes a lovely nightcap, and the second one is even better :-)
