Andalucian recipe book?

Postby ashtondav » Sat May 02, 2009 10:03 am

Hi there

I am a keen cook and so are our friends and their kids (age 13 and 15).

Preferably I am looking for a (large) andalucian recipe book, but I suppose a good Spanish or Mediterranian recipe book would do (but not just fish).

It must have quite a few traditional recipes (for example I loved a slow cooked casserole of pigs' cheeks the other night - I want to make that!) I like lots of photos as well as text. Helpful guidance would be useful; for example I don't know what to do, or how to prepare, food like squid or octopus, or even artichokes for that matter.

So, any suggestions? Googling this site gave me Culinaria Spain but while i will definitely put that down on my Xmas pressy list, it seemed a tad OTT for the teens in our group.

Thanks for any help, foodies...

Not personal recommendations, but a few links here that might, or might not fit the bill!

I have the first Casa Moro book which I have enjoyed, frequently do their pinchitos morunos. Have a look on Amazon, there are two Casa Moro books. (it won't let me put more than 3 links!) :(

Janet Mendel's books are very good.

Culinaria Spain is a truly excellent book about food in Spain but the recipes are not detailed and not suitable for someone without considerable experience.

Thanks all!

I've found a couple of the recommended books second hand on Amazon and have ordered one (the Mendel one actually.)

Also thanks for that website - i'll give it a try when next i'm over.

Once again, thanks for the help.

In searching your recommendations I came across this: "The taste of Spain" by Xavier Domingo and P. Hussenot.

No reviews were available on Amazon or other sites so I just wondered if anyone has come across it
