If you've a bottle of Champagne, you just can't finish (this doesn't apply to you Katy  ),
pop a teaspoon in the top of it, and put it in the fridge.
Keeps the Fizz.
(It works with Sidra too 8) )

Check it out - it's another myth.

Champagne keeps surprisingly well in the fridge with no cork.

Yes Sid, I've heard that but I have been using the spoon in the bottle for years and it is difficult to brake the habit.

Yes, but not as we know it! It's a lifeless, flat version compared with Frog's Devon or Somerzet cider. :) Basically, you have to "escanciar" it, which is pouring it from a great height to get air in it, and they pour a small amount in a wide bottomed glass, and you drink it quickly before the bubbles disappear. I speak with a local guy from Asturias, and this is one of his favourite tipples.

I said Sidra, because that's what it's called in Lidls. It comes in corked bottles, and last night I took the teaspoon out and poured myself a very fizzy glass :D

Cider, on the other hand, "there can be only one" - Strongbow!!!!

Recipe for getting legless very quickly!

A pint of rough draught scrumpy (with bits floating in it preferably)
1 large glass of Port.
Drink the first two inches of scrumpy, pour the port into the cider: drink & enjoy!

I was introduced to this tipple on a T.A. camp in Norfolk, many years ago.
Two of these was enough. :D

Even further back - I was in the Royal Marines (1954/56) and trained initially at ITCRM, Lympstone.
Scrumpy and a tiddy oggie was about sixpence!
Even better, doing sea time, on HMS Theseus, a horses neck was about 2d for the brandy and 6d for the ginger ale! Mind you I was paid around £17 per month and mess bills were about a tenner, so not much left over for high living!
I remember a run ashore to La Linea (La Lash), from Gibraltar, when it was only a tiny, one or two street village (and a trip on an MFV to Tangier: the less said about that the better, perhaps!)

Years ago, there were some Glaswegian girls/ladies working in a local hotel as live-in staff.

They used to drink pints of Guinness with a double gin in it

Believe me, if they said it was Saturday, it was Saturday!!!!!!!

At least when they had fights, it was usually amongst themselves.

Very scary. The local copper was nowhere to be found when these ladies got in a fighting mood.

Anyway, a quick way of getting merry in my day used to be a Cherry B and cider mixture.

Blimey I feel ill thinking about it now :!:
I'm always disappointed when a liar's pants don't actually catch on fire.

The best "get plssed quick" scheme I know of is five or six Snakebites chased down with Koskenkorva, you'd want to be close to a wc though
