Does anyone know a store that stocks jars of black cherries in syrup - Spanish ones? We have seen them all over until we wanted a jar to make a Black Forest Gateau for a 'do' this Saturday!
LIDL had them - we think - but not currently, and we are not prepeared to pay the exhorbitant 4.40€ for a dented out-of-date tin of them in a well-known Brit shop!

I would say Iceland at Fuengirola but by the time you have driven down to the store the price may be a bit steep for 1 item. You could always buy a Gateaux in the Iceland store

We use pie fillings for cheesecake toppings, but apart from the one dented tin I mentioned there are only cans of red cherries/strawberries/rhubarb - no good for this gateau.
Last resort is to buy a Spanish cake but the economy models use that horrid artificial cream and the quality ones cost too much when catering for a 'club do'.

I will bear that in mind LittleMo for the next time cherries are in season...not much use though for our Bridge Teams Match on Saturday!
We have given up, and bought a couple of things from Mercadona - life gets too short!
