Computers in schools

Postby HKM » Sat Oct 03, 2009 5:49 pm

Hi

The other day there was an article on the news about more computers being introduced into schools, but to be honest I was not really paying any attention..
Then yesterday my son came home from school and said from November they are all being given a notebook laptop to bring home to do their homework on.. Has anyone heard of this?

Know nothing about schools there but I did read quite some time ago of a pilot scheme in a school in northern Spain. Seemed strange to see tots doing everything with a computer, but they seemed to adapt very easily.

lack of computer education in schools is something I've always criticized at my son's school here in Spain, especially for younger children they don't start until they are in secondary school whereas when he went to school in England there was a computer in every class even when he started at four years old.
It's good to see some schools starting with it now, although I wouldn't expect him to bring home a notebook. must be a school for ricos :D

Yes, in our school years 5 and 6 are getting a notebook :D to bring home after Christmas - unless they get 3 points for not doing homework, having unauthorised days off. :D

Well he is in yr 5 so hopefully he will be getting one.. I imagine there will have to be some deposit put down by us? Anything to encourage homework in this house is a good thing though!
