SL..
I know of a friend who had a child fitted with dental braces aged 13 at the time, but from memory they had to pay, but nothing like the amount stated by your friend, but perhaps things have changed during the last 12 months..

A useful site to find out all locations of clinics and prices is http://www.whatclinic.com/dentistry/spain...

Also good for locating all types of clinics and info etc...

Hope this helps..

Regards,
Gordon...
ps..If that link doesn't work ..just try www.whatclinic.com...then put in dentistry/spain...

Children can get free dental treatment, each year I get a paper which entitles my 11yr old to free treatment togehter with booklet listing the dentists you can go to. However this does not include all dental work....his friends mum pays about 50 euros a month for her sons brace and my firends son 19yrs old?? €3000.00 in total, but it is paid in stages, as he goes along for adjustments, check ups etc..

Yes a friend paid 50 euro per month for her Daughter, was about 4 years ago. Unless it has changed I don't think there is any free treatment for kids.

My son (11yrs old) had braces fitted in October, in total it is 2,700 euros we paid 300 upfront then pay 60 euros every month he goes for them checked.. We do get a slip for free dental care for him but we can't take him to just any dentist to use it we have to take him to the Centro de Salud to see a dentist there. And she is awful. Plus it does not cover braces. So we pay for the better service, as do most people I do not know of anyone who uses the free one as she has such a bad reputation..

The fullstops in the web addresses you gave make the links not work.

http://www.whatclinic.com works though.
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!

AFAIK there is little state dentistry available - other than rather basic extractions done on a weekly dentistry clinic, at our Health Centre anyway.
If you can stand looking at the teeth of most Spaniards this would seem to confirm this!
