I was sorely disappointed. I was expecting better.
However here are a few interesting statistics I pulled from a quick survey of the Spanish, German and English Leagues.
I surveyed the top four teams in each league as of the end of the season 2009/2010
The top four german teams had 123 players of which 63 were germans.
The top four spanish teams had 119 players of which 61 were spanish.
The top four english teams had 138 players of which 37 were english.
The Premiership is considered the best league in the world but the problem is that its not an english league or at least its not a league that is won by english teams. Man U, *beep*,? (arensal are really that bad ) Chelsea and even Spurs are in fact international teams.
Thoughts???

I think the BBC summed up England's efforts perfectly. "A monument to mediocrity".
Also bear in mind most of the current players came through primary school during the "winning is not important" era.

I know you're not blaming us
I had the misfortune to teach in the UK for a short while during that period. School sports days were a waste of time, rather like the I.T.A system the Education authorities foisted upon us.
