Postby Enrique » Wed Aug 25, 2010 9:34 pm

Hi,
If you want to watch some top class cycle racing..........La Vuelta a España is passing through Andalucia next week........all the info you need is on.............

http://www.steephill.tv/vuelta-a-espana/

It will be covered on Spanish TV...............

http://www.rtve.es/deportes/ciclismo/vuelta-espana/

Mark Cavendish is down to ride.............The sprinter, who won five stages in this year's Tour de France, is among nine HTC-Columbia riders who will take the start in Seville.
All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Big names like Contador, Sammy Sanchez, Cadel Evans won't be there though.

Day 2, look out for Mark Cavendish. He should be easy to spot as he is in the red jersey, his team having won the opening time trial. As team leader he gets to wear the red jersey.
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!

Well we saw the race go through Morón, the town was heaving! I think I saw Mark Cavendish- but they went past so fast and it was crowded! He lost the race by a second or a bit of one :( The racers didn´t even looked puffed, I´d still be on my way to Pruna, let alone at the end of the race

It's also on Eurosport. They were a bit late yesterday and you could see the heat was a struggle. Not a problem here in the UK. Might be ground frost in places tonight!

A bad day for Cavendish. Now almost 25 minutes behind the new leader. His team still leads the points classification though. And he's fourth in the points classification, just 5 points behind, so not all lost.

Stage 4 tomorrow
http://www.lavuelta.com/10/es/recorrido/index.html?e=4
For those who go to the market at Los Jardines de Trapiche on Tuesdays, it will close early due to the race.
I understand that stallholders will start packing up between 12.00 to 12.30

I see tomorrows stage is going up past Lake Vinuela. Would like to see that but by the time tv coverage starts it will be past there.

....watched some of it on TV, they made me feel even hotter, struggling ( actually, hardly even puffing ) to get up those steep hills.
It's little wonder they are all so slim, cycling so far in a heat wave. Oh, to be young again !
I had hoped they would come up our way but don't think it is steep enough to separate them out.
A lot of them come up from Malaga on practice runs throughout the rest of the year. I understand that the Spanish cycle run has become more popular in the last few years.
We have seen a trend where other European cyclists come to stay during winter to practice for big competitions. Our last group came from Scandinavia - not good conditions at home for competition practice at that time of year.

That's sad news at the age of 50.
