Defibrillators, especially the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), seem to be popping up in loads of public spaces e.g. shopping centres, airports etc. in the UK, and elsewhere. They are designed for use by anyone, and do not require training in their use.
Was thinking of proposing that out community purchase one and have it installed. Before I go to the effort of gathering together all my arguments and costings to convince El Presidente that it is a worthwhile investment I was wondering if anyone has any experience of a similar scheme - does your community have one, have you been involved in the purchase of one etc etc. Interested in hearing arguments for and against.

Also, anyone know of any particular rules that may apply to a community wanting to install one?

Thanks in advance
