It seems that the opening of international borders with countries in the Schengen area is being brought forward to the 21st June at the same time as opening up the country with the exception of Portugal

Wicksey. With you on that. Our number one priority is a quiet room. Most hotels definition of a quiet room is one on the back of a main road. Our pet hate is folk coming back from one party at two in the morning and then rearranging all the bedroom furniture before having a second party.

We once stayed in a very remote hotel in Catalunia and were the only guests. They said we could pick any room - all quiet. So it was.

More information with the the movement of international travel, this time in English

The article makes clear that as the UK and Ireland are outside Schengen, they are not included.

Government sources confirmed on Sunday evening that despite having left the bloc earlier this year, the United Kingdom is still considered an EU member state given that it is in a transition period and enjoys full membership rights. This means that UK travelers will also be able to enter Spain from June 21.

Yes, the UK remains a member state until the end of the year, but it is not in the Schengen area so the border changes do not apply.

Perhaps this helps, copied from El Pias in English:-
"During his weekly video conference with Spain’s regional premiers, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced on Sunday that the country will reopen its borders with all European Union and Schengen-area countries on June 21. The exception will be Portugal, which will have to wait until July 1 on the request of the Portuguese government. Spain’s King Felipe VI and the president of Portugal,Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, will hold a ceremony on that day to reopen the Spain-Portugal border.

Government sources confirmed on Sunday evening that despite having left the bloc earlier this year, the United Kingdom is still considered an EU member state given that it is in a transition period and enjoys full membership rights. This means that UK travelers will also be able to enter Spain from June 21."

Confusion reigns. Maybe travellers from the UK can but then again maybe not.

Making the rules up as they go along. Let us all book flights then tell us we may be quarantined.

Oh that the removal of lockdown could be detailed so well in advance.

The problem is everyone is chomping at the bit to go on flights, holidays, shopping, you name it. In this case I think the UK government is right. They have told everyone what is happening and people are deciding what is best for them e.g. booking a flight even though they know the rules are 14 days self isolating on return with possibility of £1000 fine for non compliance.

Perhaps the airlines were wrong in allowing flights to be booked and by having such cheap flights to tempt folk.

Where are folk going to be if there is another outbreak (like there has just been in China) and the government introduces stricter rules e.g. no travel to your home on return but instead self isolating in government nominated hotels at your expense?

have you got a link for "Breaking news: Uk tourist may have to go into quarantine in Spain unless UK government drop their quarantine for Spaniards." ?

It may be in response to two British people bringing Covid-19 into New Zealand after that country had been completely clear for 24 days.

I think it is a matter of reciprocity. Unless the UK removes the 14 days quarantine then Spain will impose it too. BBC guy said the same this morning.

The ones who are working cannot holiday abroad whist it is still on. Be sure one of their friendly neighbours will report them when they arrive back with a nice suntan and go straight back to work. Then there are many who have already blown thousands on a cancelled holiday and waiting for a refund.

Stated that 64% of british are afraid to even go to a supermarket. Sounds a bit high to me but I do know people who don't want to leave their homes.
