Re: Coronavirus
But the COVID-19 negative test result requirement using PCR or equivalent remains?

Re: Coronavirus
Yes, have been reading some of the comments. I wonder if the virus had been left to run it’s course last year like any flu there would have been no need for lockdowns and we would still be in the same position now but over it.

Re: Coronavirus
Well the dying might be over with at least another 400k dead in the UK if the death rate remained the same. However if hospitals got overwhelmed like in India who knows how high the death rate would become if people cannot be treated.
As for the economy it would be thrashed even more as so many people would be afraid to leave their homes and nobody willing to visit the UK. In addition the food supply would get interrupted as the UK imports about
50% of the food it needs. The effects on the UK in that respect would have been much longer and there would be nobody leaving the UK for a holiday anytime soon
Apart from that nothing would have been different ....or maybe tons more

Re: Coronavirus
Restrictions are easing up throughout Spain
Here is a list of the changes for the regions
https://english.elpais.com/
I am also hearing rumours that within a couple of weeks the obligatory use of masks outside will be lifted. However, as this is imposed by the regional government, I would expect Madrid to be the first to lift them due to the fact they were the last to introduce them.
We will have to wait and see.

Re: Coronavirus
Spain has handled the Pandemic in a different way to the UK and the restrictions were dependant on what could legally be imposed. Even then they have been far less severe than the almost total lockdown earlier this year in The UK. Apart from a few places, the current situation in Andalucía is far more relaxed than here in Bilbao. Night clubs can open until 2:00am, up to 8 people at tables in bars and up to 500 people at ceremonies (300 inside)
As the state of emergency has ended and due to current government's lack of enthusiasm for another one, there is limited scope for what regional government can do. If they try to introduce something, affected groups test it in the courts and more often than not the courts say that the restrictions are not legal.
I have heard the mask situation is to be reviewed at the end of this month.

Re: Coronavirus
As I keep forgetting to put my mask on, it would be nice not to have to wear one. Most times out of doors there's few people around anyway, and it always feels a bit OTT to have to wear one when there's no-one else around. I have taken it off when it's completely deserted. So many people seem to wear theirs under their chin that I wonder why I bother sometimes!

The government is having a meeting about not having to wear masks outside (1.5mts) from june 26th. Whether the regions can over rule???

Re: Coronavirus
Theres very little evidence of it being transmitted outside when walking in the street past someone for a split second unless they cough in your face!. Even more so when you are supposed to wear them when theres no one around you! Now people have the choice which is the most important thing. You still have to wear them in crowded areas. If people want to keep wearing them thats upto them but I'll be crossing the road instead. Whats the point in vaccines if nothing changes and you keep having the same restrictions
