Wicksey wrote: Tue Mar 02, 2021 2:45 pm Checked Clicsalud this morning to find my long awaited specialist appointment .... unfortunately still long awaited as it is 6 weeks away. I happened to speak to my Dr today but she can do nothing to bring it forward "due to Covid it's very complicated". That will make it 3 months since the appointment was requested. I hope I do not become one of the other unseen 'victims of Covid' and end up with permanent nerve damage. She said if the pain or symptoms get worse then I shall have to go to urgencias. Last autumn I was given appointments within a couple of weeks, so it's just bad luck I guess that I've had to wait so long now.
I imagine you must be pretty frustrated Wicksey and somewhat worried, the waiting just adds to it all....it's not great for people having to wait to be seen, i suppose it will be the same everywhere. Appointments to see any specialist will have been backed up since this pandemic started and i agree it's bad luck..I booked an echocardiogram through the doctors a few weeks back, its an annual check i have for a heart murmur, i thought i would be waiting a long time but i have an appointment for Thursday although not at the usual hospital i attend. I think the waiting depends on who you need to see but if you are in pain Wicksey i'd swap places with you if i could and you could have my appointment slot, i could wait.
Hope you managed to speak to your doctor and get your annual checks reinstated, Pamela? I went to my cardiology appointment at the Hospital Comarcal de la Axarquia this morning, it was better than any I've ever had in the private sector. My appointment was for 10.10 and I arrived at 9.55. As soon as I got to the door of the Cardiology section, a nurse came out and took my appointment letter. I had just turned around to go to sit down and wait when she called me through, 15 minutes early. I was in with the cardiologist for a full hour, and he did the most thorough echocardiogram I've ever had, as well as the nurse doing an ECG immediatley after I went in and him reading through all my old reports from the private sector and making loads of notes on his computer. He has prescribed me a new medication and also ordered two types of scan, one at the radiology clinic near the hospital and the other at the Hospital Regional (Carlos Haya) in Málaga, and when they have the results of those I will be sent another appointment to see the cardiologist again. Don't know how long the scan appointments will take to come through, but there certainly doesn't seem to be any reluctance to refer patients for them due to the pandemic.

FAL the same happened when I went to hospital here, seen before my appointment time. However, I drew a different conclusion from you....they are not busy. I have visited in the last decade the CDS Hospital, Carlos Haya and Brighton, Chichester and Worthing hospitals here. During all that time all hospitals were busy, busy. Some nurses no time to give out info' delays in appointment times etc. Both OH and myself have been walk in before alloted time since Covid.

PS. TBF there are many who are scared (S)hitless to attend hospital and leave it until it is an emergency.

They were busy (looked as busy as always) in Traumatology this morning, as I had to walk through that area to get to Cardiology. When I have been to Gynaecology for follow-ups there have been as many people waiting to be seen as there were pre-2020.

FAL, it does sound like you have had a very good experience unlike mine which lasted all of 12mins...The hospital i usualy attend wasn't taking appointments so i had to go to another one which I haven't one good word for but that's another story..i did notice that i wasn't tested from as many angles as usual...Hmmm it's got me thinking now..I haven't been contacted by my doctor with the results yet, could be tomorrow but i will be speaking to him about my concerns..

Just think if a Cardiologist spends an hour with each Patient that's about 6 a day they can see. Then there are the operations.

Cardiologists don't do operations - cardiac or cardiovascular surgeons do. That would be a whole different referral.

Just had a phone call from the Marti Torres Clinica de Radiologia to give me an appointment for the first of my scans (ordered by the cardiologist at Hospital Comarcal de la Axarquia last Wednesday) in two weeks´time, so I remain impressed by the functioning of the Andalucian public health system during the pandemic.

The other rule that has already been imposed across Spain is that meetings in private spaces are limited to only people who live there. No visitors are allowed. So no Easter lunches with your friends at home.

A lot of rules all over the world don’t make sense. My Brother has just emigrated to New Zealand. Not a snap decision he has had a house there for years, he is a Musician and a lot of his work is there and Australia. He is still in quarantine, allowed out of the hotel room for one hour in 24 until yesterday when someone tested positive for the virus so everyone can now only leave their room for 15 mins. He has spent the past 10 months composing music for adverts on American TV. I will miss him, his dogs and his indoor pool.

He tells me that there are 10,000 New Zealander’s on a waiting list to go home.

It might be because here the region is quite small but we are able to move between the three provinces. This weekend is a bank holiday and our plan is to spend a day in San Sebastián. However, if the restrictions don’t get ya, the weather does. During the Christmas break the rules were the same but it rained heavily everyday so it was pointless going anywhere and the forecast for this weekend is rain again, which is especially annoying as we have had nice weather for most of January,February and March.

I read the comments below that article. 2 said they are locked in their provinces but Foreigners can move around. Is that correct?

Surely the lockdown rules apply to everyone. Is it just because foreigners can still enter the country? Seems to be quite a few foreign registered cars on the Costa here, German/Belgian/Dutch/French. Most Brits here for the winter should be gone as they need to be out of the Schengen countries by the end of March.
