Almax works just as well and is far cheaper.

I'm a Gaviscon Advance man, it works well. You cannot buy it or import it into Spain from UK online suppliers. You can buy it in Gib at any chemists.
Gaviscon Forte in sachets is available in Spain and works well but it does work out expensive.
I've now found that a 20mg Omeprazole after dinner works well. They are timed release.
I suppose it depends on what your condition is, mine is acute Reflux, had it for 40 years. Mature Cheddar Cheese is the worst experience and I love it!!
Almax is pretty good too.

Agree Countryboy about omeprazole. I was diagnosed years ago with hiatus hernia and consultant prescribed them. Now on lansoprazole 30g. I can now eat anything. Before white wine and lots of foods really made me suffer.

Thanks all. i have some Omeprazole so will try that first.

I have a sensation of something been stuck in my wind pipe. feels like ulcers or when you get a bit of sweetcorn skin stuck in your mouth.like lose skin. Followed on after a throat infection. Had some heartburn etc so wonder if its connected to that. Stress of the current situation doesnt help and is prob making it worse due to to much time on my hands.you dont know whether its more in your head than anything. Not been "allowed" to have drs appointments does not help although a family member has just received a appointment at velez for the beginging of may for finger joint problems. If hey can keep working why cant G.P's. how many ppl will end up getting something serious cause they cant see someone

Don't know which centre you are registered with but I can get telephone consultations, using the Salud Responde app on my phone, with a doctor at the Torre del Mar centre.
If they actually need to see me then I believe I can get a face to face appointment at the centre.
Cheers

Elusive I've had that sensation and I think it was anxiety that brought it on. Although I'm not really aware of feeling stressed at the moment, I also think that at the back of my mind I know it's not easy to see the Dr as before. I have ear problems and that sometimes makes me feel dizzy and I think anxiety makes it worse. Also I keep getting a feeling like my food sits on a shelf in my stomach when I eat .... hard to describe, but a full feeling, like it's not going down properly. I think I may do some yoga exercises to get me breathing properly and to try to relax my neck which is really stiff and painful at the moment. I miss my usual exercise regime!

OH had that whe we lived in Spain. He said his felt as if bits of food were stuck in his throat. Sometimes he would have to stop speaking when it came on. I used to wonder if it was an allergy or swallowing pool water or something. It did vanish eventually.

As for acid reflux the Consultant explained to me after I had an endoscopy that if it has gone on for a long time the constant acid scars the food/ windpipe which can cause it to narrow. In some cases an operation is needed to widen it. Luckily mine was ok. So just need the daily pill.

Wicksey I have just had a similar ear problem. If I get out of bed quickly, look up at a tree or something my head spins. Had it last year too. I had A phone conversation with GP yesterday where they do a triage. Because I had it previously she prescribed an anti biotic spray. They do see people but only after phone consultation if necessary.

Yeah it could be globus. I have alot of the symtoms.had alot of stress over the last year and now all this. The more you think the worst it gets.

Yeah i can get a t.phone appointment gerry but not of much real use. Even more stress to actually go there if i say i need to see someone. Strange thing to say but knowing its difficult to see a dr with everything thats going on makes you feel even sicker. Very much in the head and anxiety .You start thinking of all sorts so could do with it been looked at properly. Dont know if G.P.s have the equipment for that?

I think I have this sometimes

I do something called Dr Foster's manoeuvre which certainly seems to help although at the moment I'm having earache and painful glands which is the other problem I tend to get. I think that knowing it's more difficult to see the Dr does make you feel worse.

If you went to the doctor's surgery he could probably only be able to prescribe some tablets and say you need an endoscopy examination to check your oesophagus, which he would not be able to do there and then a that is probably the only way to determine exactly what is the problem.
I know most of my doctor's appointments have just been talking, no examination, with, sometimes, a report recommending an appointment for some specialised physical examination with somebody else.

So one of the problems appears to be tonsil stones! Never heard of them before. Got one out that had been impossible to reach on one side.could been seen but not reached (looked like white infection) and trying just caused more soreness. theres alot more relief on that side now. although alot of tenderness.Keep getting little ulcers though that come and go.
