A little more information on how the vaccine will be distributed. It mentions Private health care but says it will be distributed via the public system.

Re: Covid Vaccinations Spain
Anyone who refuses the vaccine will be put on a goverment register. Apparently employers will not be able to access this.
Re: Covid Vaccinations Spain
So Employers can’t access it but the database will be shared with the rest of EU. What will they do with it!

Re: Covid Vaccinations Spain
The register will have the names and, I suppose, the NIE/DNI of the person. However, the register will also have the reason why the person has refused the vaccine. This may be on religious grounds, mental reasons, physical reasons, allergies, medication, cosmetic surgery (apparently the Pfizer vaccine causes implants to swell) or some other reason. Employers may not have the right to know some of this information about a person. I imagine the EU will compile an even bigger list for reasons as yet unknown.

Re: Covid Vaccinations Spain
Not really. They are put into various places in people, not only women, but once implanted they are supposed to remain stable, inflated to the required size and thereafter static. Before you ask, no, I haven't but I know a man who has.
Re: Covid Vaccinations Spain
I would have thought that a register of people who did not want the vaccine could provide excellent data in the event of further waves, to assess the viability of the vaccine, the efficacy and so on. Furthermore it may provide valuable information as to how best to introduce vaccines in the future to the public. It may be that some people would not have any vaccine ever. It could be health issues like allergies, pregnancy or other conditions (right down to the lizard people secretly implanting Windows 10 into the vaccine so that Bill Gates can rule the world). There could just be some old wives' tales that could be dispelled using the data, to see how widespread these beliefs are.
I assume this type of process is somewhat easier when there are ID cards for the majority, passports for the Brits in countries where carrying ID is mandatory.
I really do not see anything sinister in gathering this data. I am sure my yearly flu jab has been clocked on my records and have not felt to date that my very freedom has been wrenched from me!

I agree with what you are writing Unicorn but although the village has had a campaign to inoculate people with the flu jab this year my OH and I were never 'called'. I suspect that is because we do not appear on any flu jab list as we have never had one. However, we are on the surgery list for the yearly 'analysis' and I get my mammogram in January and I get called for that every two years and had a letter last week. It seems that some things are logged and recorded but others not.
Re: Covid Vaccinations Spain
I believe that a database of people refusing the vaccine being put on a database to be shared is against the data protection law. Sufficient to be on medical records.

Re: Covid Vaccinations Spain
Article 6 of GDPR does contain provisions for sharing data if it is, amongst other things
1. In the public interest
2. To protect the vital interest of another person.
I am sure lawyers will have a field day seeing if sharing the fact you refused a vaccine fits in that, but prima facie it's not beyond the realms of possibility that it is legal.

Don't know if it is EU law or just UK but medical record access is enshrined in UK law. Lawyers would have a field day, particularly the Human rights specialists. Using data is one thing but a line is drawn under identification.
I read that a lot of vaccines arrived a day late in Spain due to logistical problems in Belgium.
On a positive note (which this thread was about) most people seem to be keen to have the jab.

If I HAVE to then it’s the Oxford one for me but I’ll be last in the reserve queue.

Rather than me explain what the GDPR is and what it does I thought I would just copy and pastekaty wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 3:05 pm Don't know if it is EU law or just UK but medical record access is enshrined in UK law. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new, Europe-wide law that replaces the Data Protection Act 1998 in the UK. It is part of the wider package of reform to the data protection landscape that includes the Data Protection Bill. The GDPR sets out requirements for how organisations will need to handle personal data from 25 May 2018.
As I explained above Article 6 of GDPR allows for data sharing (your name and ID number is data) if it is in the public interest or to protect another human.

Paddy Pumpkin, only lawyers use words like 'prima facie'. Nice to have you on the forum and on our side.

Not guilty....I have a law degree, but decided not to go into practice so I never qualified.
Re: Covid Vaccinations Spain
Seems to be hit and miss. Friends who have just become o.a.p's got called for a flu jab yet others that have been here 5 plus years have never been asked/contactedLavanda wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 7:20 pm I agree with what you are writing Unicorn but although the village has had a campaign to inoculate people with the flu jab this year my OH and I were never 'called'. Re: Covid Vaccinations Spain
The advice given by the BMA unsurprisingly concurs with the GDPR in permitting disclosures of data when it is in the public interest or when another human in endangered.katy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 10:57 pm The medical part.
https://www.bma.org.uk/media/1868/bma-a ... nov-19.pdf
''In this context a disclosure in the public interest is a disclosure that is essential to prevent a serious threat to public health, national security, the life of the individual or a third party, or to prevent or detect serious crime. This includes ......serious harm to the security of the state or to public order and serious fraud''
So disclosure looks legal unless there is some other law buried away that prevents the disclosure.
