I wonder if large private companies such as Sanitas or BUPA would be allowed to bulk buy vaccines from eg. India.

Our local vaccine centre have been using Pfizer since they started in Dec, they have now started vaccinating all those who who are being called for their 2nd Jab with Pfizer.
Yesterday was the first day they started using AZ for first time jabs, OTH had his first jab this morning, they told him he would get his 2nd one in 4 weeks, the roll out is def speeding up in my area, they are now calling the over 50's group. Has any forum members been called in Andalucía yet?

They can buy anything they want...it's a free world. Even easier with free trade agreements

However, if the vaccine is not one that has been approved by the regulator then it cannot be adminisitered.

Even if they got past all of that think of the public back lash of a two tier society where those who can pay get the vaccine first. No company is dumb enough to do that, except maybe AstraZeneca.

I think apart from care home residents and essential workers, they're still halfway through the over 80s from what I've read.

A mass vaccination centre has started operating today at the Vélez-Málaga feria ground, next to the El Ingenio shopping centre . When we passed yesterday there were people working there getting things ready, but I assumed it wouldn't start until after Semana Santa. However, when I passed at 9.15 this morning, things looked to be in full swing with lots of cars parked, people queuing outside and Policia Local stewarding. My dental hygienist got a call whilst I was with her yesterday, giving her an appointment to be vaccinated today (she was delighted) so I expect she will have gone there for it, from what I could see of the people queuing they looked fairly young.

I'm pleased to see it because it's a sign that things are picking up speed.

It is good news. Not sure they should be welcoming tourists after this.

In Sevilla over 80 yr olds have been waiting over an hour in the sun, but at least things are moving.

The AstraZeneca suspension caused a huge amount of mistrust in the whole process so now they need to find a way of getting as many of the sheep back into the pen as they can.

Not ideal, but no worse than having to wait an hour and 25 minutes (or much longer in some cases) in the rain and snow.

Oh so that makes it ok then  i forgot we are not supposed to mention negative news from Spain!
One example would have done. Googlitus.
UK now has the second lowest infection rate inEurope. It could be due to the harsh lockdown though as well as the vaccine.

Any info on the Funcionarios jumping the queue in Coin?Happened in the UK too. I posted on here to save your fingers.

Speculation that Boris is about to do a deal with the EU. Release our Pfizer order and you can have some of our AZ.

But katy, when I give one example you describe it as cherry picking. :lolno:

Another derogatory way of describing people with different views. I will take whichever vaccine is offered to me as will most people I know. 'Sensible' is the word I would use.

I think some, but not all of the long queues were caused by people turning up early to their appointments, when i took my mother the queue was quite long and we were about 8 yrds from the front door when i heard someone from the front tell someone part way down that his appointment was at 10.20am, my mothers was at 10pm and we were there at 9.55am.

As you are supposed to wait 15 minutes before leaving, that can make the queue look longer and in Spain you bring the whole family along with granny!

We had a separate waiting room incase anyone went into shock. Given a ticket with time I could leave. I didn't wait when I had the 2nd one but the duty Nurse watching everyone said I did so at my own risk. Our health centre was more experienced than most at organisation, was a hub for local villages and they completed 10,000 jabs near the end of February.

I think you maybe right about people turning up early Pamela as I was a bit early although they didn't stick to it. When I told them my appointment wasn't until another 12 mins they said oh just go in.They just clicked on my health record. We were told on a leaflet to be ready for the jab, coats and jumpers off etc. Why do lots of people attend in long sleeve shirts, jumpers etc. I imagine it can slow down the process if some have to virtually strip off

Yes i was given a ticket also with the time on it when i could leave, we sat in a seperate room spaced apart until the 15mins passed.Other clinics ive heard it's jab and go, my daughter was in and out which im not sure is legal given that you can go into shock soon afterwards.I remember having a flue vaccine in sainsburys pharmacy and i didn't sit for a few mins before getting up, i suddenly went dizzy walking around the store holding onto OTH's arm.

My 1st jab is on Wednesday 7th April and the 2nd one on Wednesday 28th April.
Both at the Torre del Mar Health Centre.
