Covid Vaccinations Spain

Postby olive » Fri Dec 18, 2020 9:57 pm

Thought I would start a thread for positive contributions about the Spanish vaccination rollout.

Looks as though it is starting after Xmas day.

https://english.elpais.com/society/2020 ... er-27.html

Positive informative contributions only please.

So will I as I am in the at risk group. They have defined the various groups but not yet shown the priority.

Positive contributions?

Well we have another thread in Amigos where people are expressing their concerns about whether vaccines work, are necessary and so on.

I thought this thread could be a useful source of information for those interested in being vaccinated. Details like dates, how they found out they were eligible( eg phone call, notice in health centre, chart in local paper) where process was carried out, how long it took, why they had to sit for fifteen minutes afterwards. Was it a timed appointment or just turn up and wait. Can you go to any centre in your Province.

Hope that clarifies.

A friend in the uk has had it. No side effects but felt a bit lethargic for 48 hours.

I am not allowed to use the Spanish Health Service, any idea if vaccine will be rolled out by NIE or only to those on the health service?

If you live here, I suspect you will be. I’m 62 so I am quite a long way down the list so if you are of a similar age or younger, you’ll need to wait some time anyway.
There are plenty of people living here illegally and I would imagine there will be some sort of program for them as well.

I read that the first Spanish residents given a vaccine were actually done so by Gibraltar.

To give you an idea by population and age 60 65 age range in uk is pencilled in for after 21st march. So with 20 plus million people less in Spain but a bigger country and starting the vaccination later you will probably be in March.

You would hope so,,,but who knows. My wife has an underlying condition which puts her at risk so she should really be in a higher priority group than just her age, but we cannot use the health system (do everything privately) so the health system doesn't even know we exist. All I have seen so far is the government saying it will be rolled out through health centres. This may well just be the point of delivery but I hope it's not also the system of notification.

Likewise, but my missus is likely to be somewhat further down the priority list than i will be.

I will be positive in my support for those who want the vaccine as I support freedom of choice.

Same here. The more people who want it the less likely they are to try to mandate it.

There would be at least 35 million people on front of me if I lived in the UK, and it is not recommended for U16s. So that excludes about 15 million. So pretty much last on the list for me!

Don't worry, Paddy Pumpkin. The positive thing is by the time they get around to you the virus will have mutated, diversified and weakened so much that we will all have low-levels of infection and our immunity systems will be able to tackle it. It's all very hopeful — and positive.

This is how they will dole it out in Andalucía. 82 distribution points.

Yes I read it as positive also. If I am last on the list it means one or 2 things. 1....the scientists reckon I don't really need it. 2 by the time I get it there will be nobody left in danger(as long those at risk have taken it). At that point I will have little sympathy for people in at risk groups if they have refused to be vaccinated.

According to the calculator 65 year olds are in March, 60-64 are 29/04 to 17/05 so quite a difference.

Thanks for that. Quite useful. I am just organising jabs for my dad ( in the UK). Covid one is 25 miles away. It will have to be by taxi. Hope it is slick timing. Flu one was drive in/out at local surgery ,wind window down! It will be a logistical problem all round in any country.

I have just spotted title of thread is Span, sorry should have been Spain. Maybe a mod would change it please?
