Fit to fly test

Postby pepe jose » Wed Jun 16, 2021 8:01 am

A warning for anyone hoping to get a fit to fly covid test at malaga airport. The system is down but also fully booked. Depending where you are based I found private clinics in
Torrox costa
El Palo east of Malaga
Benalmadena port
Fuengirola.
The Quiron hospital in Malaga online is also very slow but you can walk in.

That doesn’t bode well for the much anticipated change from amber to green travel ( UK Spain)

Thank you for posting that info pepe jose and making people aware who are travelling.
They might have it sorted by the time the Uk gov make up their minds about amber to green..Christmas or next year perhaps.

Even if a country is green there is still a test needed to enter UK....and another after 2 days.

I used and recommend Travel Test Center at Seville airport. My 5 minute appointment was booked the week before and my -ve result arrived in 15-20 minutes. Their office is conveniently located just before security and my rapid antigen test cost 24,95 euros. It all went very smoothly even though I was eight minutes late for the last available slot of the morning session!

My test result was checked by departure gate staff but not requested at UK Border. I witnessed one traveller refused boarding following a certificate check and then we had police enter the aircraft upon arrival to lift a passenger presumably also owing to paperwork issues.

Saludos

If the Uk opens up but still require people to take a test before returning to the Uk then i think people will struggle if they are relying on an appointment at Malaga airport. pepe jose is right about it being fully booked, I've struggled to get an appointment for 2 weeks time.

Bioclon in el Palo, Malaga has plenty of appointments. Antigen is 45 euros and results in 20 minutes.

I posted a link to a COVID throat swab PCR test to take at home 72 hours before flying on the Travel thread. Relying on a test at an airport before flying sounds fraught to me. Take the test before going to the airport and save yourself the stress.

Gibraltar Airport was good for the 72 hour one. Didn't leave it for the last day though. Went the day before, 5 mins., £30 and result text around 15 mins later. The worse hassle was having to arrange 2 day test to get a reference no. to fill in on the locator form. £44 each for a home test rip off. They were here when we got back. OH opened his and did it Monday morning. When I opened mine it was slightly different. The tube was red topped and there was a label on with details like when you send a hospital sample. Asked for my hospital no and other things. So, I rang the company...several times, always busy. I have a confession to make, I threw a wobbly and binned it all. That was a week ago, don't know if they will be in touch.

I would definitely recommend travelling to UK from Gibraltar for those living or holidaying on the Western CDS.

We paid 80 euro for 2 tests in Torrox Costa. Also booked the 2 and 8 day tests with Randox which cost £190 altogether. Don't understand how you can book a test at a test centre when supposed to be in quarantine. Anyway got home Friday, Saturday morning received phone call from NHS track and trace. Poor line, chap had poor command of English. My partner received call hour later, similar situation, the caller said he would call back later. Hour later knock on the door, chap from NHS track and trace wanting to see her identification. Sunday further calls reminding us it was day 2 and we had to do the test.

I've stopped answering the phone but getting one call a day.

Several people turned away from boarding at Malaga airport today as they had gone to airport to get test, all appointments full and no time to go into another clinic I guess. Tried to get on without and Guardia Civil were escorting them out of the terminal. Quite a few upset and angry non boarders.
