Verstappen is a very dangerous driver

Postby Manchesteral » Sun Sep 12, 2021 3:24 pm

I am currently following the Italian grand prix at Monza and jus witnessed the appalling antics of Max Verstappen who could have killed Lewis Hamilton, I am increasingly worried about Verstappens attitude to his fellow drivers and really believe that he will either kill himself or someone else if he is not reined in. It seems that he will stop at nothing to get to the top of the tree !!

I totally agree. He is the most dangerous driver on the grid and his official record proves that. Without the protection of the Halo system he would surely have killed Hamilton today.

The stewards found that it was predominately his fault and he will have a 3 place grid penalty at the next race. Drivers can get penalty points on their licence but it seems that you only get those if you actually kill someone. There is no doubt that he is an exceptional driver but only at the expense of leaving a trail of wreckage behind him.

According to Formula 1 app, he also got a 2 point penalty.

Two penalty points confirmed, it doesn't really matter he had a clean superlicense astonishingly, so with twelve allowed before action is taken nearly a non event.

I stood next to a modern (2021) F1 car a few weeks back and they're huge, some of these older circuits now have sections I'd deem unsuitable for them, the chicane of yesterdays incident being one of them.

Yes, it’s nearly as big as a Rolls Royce Phantom. If you dropped one of those on Lewis’s head the outcome might have been different!

"It's also not light because it takes really high loads. We had to strengthen the design of the chassis so it would be able to take roughly the weight of a London double decker bus sitting on top of the halo.

"We needed to make sure it would be strong enough to withstand the type of event it was designed to protect the driver against."

For further reference, that 12000kg would also be enough to fend off three full-size Indian elephants, 109 Arnold Schwarzeneggers, or 550,000,000 grains of rice.

Thus, the 752kg Red Bull car of Max Verstappen ensured that Hamilton was well defended against a shock impact, protecting his head from injury.

Mercedes technical chief James Allison explained back in 2018.

Just finally managed to watch the race after being on the road.

Agree DA. Interestingly the circuit owners aren’t going to make any changes. We all want to see side by side racing but not dangerous driving. Of course if Max gets( has got) the reputation of coming through best you get out of the way, it might just help his campaign..

Good that there are some real talented drivers coming through and British to boot.
