Booking a face to face appointment with your doctor

Postby Free at Last » Wed Oct 20, 2021 8:20 am

I am pleased to see that the Salud Responde app now gives the option for patients to book a face to face appointment with their doctor, if required. When you tap on the option to request an appointment with a doctor, on the screen where the calendar is displayed it says Cita Telefonica at the top, with a down arrow next to it. Tap on the arrow and the other option, Cita Presencial, appears so you then tap whichever option you prefer. I presume the same option will be available via the Clic Salud website or the Andalucia Salud app, but haven't checked.

The JdeA did say weeks ago that face to face appointments were going to be available again, but I have read that doctors' organisations were not in favour of this. I think it's high time patients are able to see their doctors in person if they need to without jumping through hoops - I will be happy to use a telephone appointment to request a repeat prescription or ask for the results of tests, for example, but would prefer a face to face one if I have to describe any symptoms or there is something I want the doctor to examine.

Yes, face to face appointments are available, at the Torre del Mar health centre, via Clic Salud and also via the app on phone.
However, the appointments seem very few.
Only 4, now 3, available next week.

I made an appointment on Monday for yesterday much to my surprise, as I have waited a week for a telephone appointment recently. There were four times available for the next day when I went to book it late Monday morning. The clinic was quite busy with a long queue for the receptionist, a couple of people hanging around outside the nurses room and about half a dozen waiting outside various doctors rooms. My appointment details showed I was seeing a lady locum Dr in room 3, but when I got there I saw a male locum Dr in room 9 (which I discovered after waiting outside room 3 for a bit!). I went straight in though and it was nice to see someone face to face. I've been having earache for ages and I thought the Dr I spoke to 6 weeks ago would ask me to go in but he just gave me drops, so it was good to have someone actually examine my poor old ears at last!

I think it's high time doctors opened the door and did the jobs they are paid to do, covid has given them every excuse in the world but at the end if the day if they don't want to see patients it does make me question why on earth they wanted to be doctors in the first place.

I rang my dads doctor in UK regarding a problem he has. He said can I visit him at home and did! So some doctors in the UK are doing face to face

I first noticed the option to book a face to face appointment when I checked the app on Monday evening, at that time there were 3 dates next week available. I checked again yesterday evening and there was only one day next week available then, but still 4 face to face appointments showing available to book.

If I had a problem I didn't think could wait a week before seeing a doctor, though, I could just go to the health centre early in the morning and ask to see the duty emergency doctor, there is always one there.

Our surgery in El Morche currently has appointments available Monday to Friday next week. I think they may extra Drs working there at the moment.

My FiL has found it impossible to even contact his NHS Dr and has had to pay privately as he's been in a lot of pain with gout. It's been caused by his blood pressure pills but it's been difficult to get it sorted out and I think it's only in the past week or two he has actually been able to contact his NHS Dr's surgery. His cancer hospital also keeps cancelling his appointments and he's been trying to see the specialist there since the summer. Now the numbers of Covid cases are rising fast in the UK I hope it doesn't get worse for him.

They are not Covid “cases” just positive tests. Stop testing schoolchildren and dishing out free test packs like confetti and no one would notice.
I called in my health centre last week. 3 receptionists but just 2 elderly patients waiting and one just for Nurse. This is a very large new Centre with about 8 Doctors so wtf are they doing. OH did ok. Face to face with GP scan 2 weeks later a Hernia. 2 months later sent to private hospital to see Consultant. They are going to operate. However one swallow doth not a summer make  . We all know what’s happening and not just in Spain and UK either.

Spot on Katy.........as they say "the more you seek the more you'll find".........U.K is infatuated with testing testing testing and the media is rubbing their hands in glee with every dramatic daily headline they publish........making £££ for someone

Its all playing out with the media and doctors, courting the gov to bring in restrictions..Its so predictable.
The gov don't want another lockdown, the country is skint, more restrictions/lockdowns equals more taxes and the sheep will be the first to moan..
Wicksey whats happened to your fil is criminal, its like ive always said, you are only important if you have covid and it seems that they have no time for people unless they do have covid..Makes me so angry.
