How amazing that your own body was able to defeat this deadly virus. Well done you. You are now as immune as anyone out there.Lavanda wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 4:10 pm Today was my first full day of socialising. All went well. However, I was asked if I would now get vaccinated seeing as I 'got' Covid and was, clearly, vulnerable. I was reminded that my antibodies might only last a year and I would need the vaccine to get better protection for the future. Parallel universe, anyone?

Re: Covid Diary
Jeez just going through my first ever bout of this, 4th day in. Can confirm it's probably 20 x more potent than a serious bout of man flu. Mrs has it too but not as bad as me.
Aches in every muscle, wobbly, hot/cold sweats, can't sleep and when I do I have daft dreams and ramble. Not helping when Mrs says "I can't be doing with this" every time I ask for care.

Re: Covid Diary
It does feel horrible, no doubt about it, BUT it doesn't last long.
Re: Covid Diary
Unless you are one of the one in nine with long covid. No one knows still the long term effects.

Re: Covid Diary
Sorry to hear that. Hope you get through it as quickly as possible. I have been a little relaxed lately with the measures to avoid it. My thinking being that if I am eventually going to get it, the best time is now to avoid getting it when I go back to work. Seeing your post has made me think twice about that.Devils Advocate wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 1:32 pm Jeez just going through my first ever bout of this, 4th day in. Re: Covid Diary
Hi Mark hope all's well with you. Many thanks for your kind wishes. Well day 5 now since the positive test, and it seems to have backed off as fast as it came. Slept well last night and feel basically normal today although a test still showed positive, I'm certain it'll be negative soon. Poor Mrs is still feeling dreadful though and she got it before me.
Really hoping you avoid it Mark but I assume you've had your boosters etc.? We called it a day after the first 2 jabs and declined boosters, maybe that's why it's hit us so bad. Others who've had it recently including my mum reported it was merely like a cold......all of them treble or quadruple jabbed.
So hoping you'll be fine.
All the best

Re: Covid Diary
Update. 90 minutes after posting I'm back to normal it's come back again, sweats and feeling wobbly all over. What a weird virus it is.

Re: Covid Diary
Just about everyone I know who has had it has been fully jabbed and it seems to be different symptoms and severity for each person. A few I know have had it really badly so not sure whether the 'vaccinations' have made any difference at all in some cases. It still doesn't make me want any jabs, but I do wonder if/when I will catch it how I will fare. My OH only had the one Janssen but he's not sure if he had Covid in th epast as he was terribly ill with a very bad cough when Covid was first making its appearance.
Sounds like you need to take it easy DA until you're sure you're fully recovered. Any virus will make you feel grotty for some time afterwards.

Re: Covid Diary
Thanks Wicksey, It's weird, I feel great again now. I think the hot and humid weather has made me feel worse. Went out before in the first rain we've seen for ages and a comfy 20 degrees and have felt good since. I don't know if the jabs make any difference either in all honesty, I've no idea. Just so weird that my Mum only had a slight cold and I was honestly battered by it.....and I am fit and usually don't get bothered by such things.Wicksey wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 3:21 pm Just about everyone I know who has had it has been fully jabbed and it seems to be different symptoms and severity for each person. Poor Mrs is still poorly though and she's 7 days in. Thanks again, appreciated.

Re: Covid Diary
I don’t think there is any science behind it as my OH with three jabs had the same symptoms for the same time as I did with no jabs. Some people get it again and again and I know lots of people, jabbed and not jabbed, who have never had it. I still do not know anyone who has died from it, though.

Re: Covid Diary
This weather certainly isn't helping. My OH felt quite ill the other day, dizzy and sick and we both feel so exhausted by it. Only by sitting in the airconditioned living room can we get any respite, and we're always careful to stay hydrated and avoid being outside. At least it may be cooling down a bit this week which may help.

Re: Covid Diary
You are lucky then. I knew one person, although not very well who was my neighbour's dad 2 doors down that died. He used to pick up her kids from my academy and apart from that, a couple of friends' parents died from it.Lavanda wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 4:59 pm I don’t think there is any science behind it as my OH with three jabs had the same symptoms for the same time as I did with no jabs. Re: Covid Diary
I know 2 people who died very shortly after the jabs and my own husband was very ill indeed after his second jab - far worse than he was when he actually caught covid. We both had covid a few weeks ago, both had similar symptoms and i'm unjabbed.

Best way to be Irene, you can't beat Natural Immunity
Re: Covid Diary
I become more and more convinced, firsttango. I spent hours, days, weeks trying to decide what to do, when the jabs first became available. So difficult for an ordinary person to wade through all the contradictory articles, particularly when mainstream media were all singing from the same hymn sheet. The stress of not knowing whether I was right or wrong! Still can't be totally sure of course but I'm so much easier in my mind about my choice, these days.
Re: Covid Diary
I have had all the jabs for travel reasons. Supposed to have 2 jabs in Sept. Flu and the swinging new Omricon. (Some getting rich)I only know 2 people who has had it. Old ladies in their 80s caught it on a cruise. buts said just a cold. Daughter had it in Paris and she said she had never felt as weird. but only for a few days.
Sorry to hear some of you not well.

With all the new evidence that is coming thick and fast cannot believe anyone would risk it
