Birth control

How does one go about getting birth control here? Is it your local GP or do you have to go private - dont fancy buying it over the counter with out the health checks.

I go to a Gynacologist which I pay for and he gives me a prescription. My appointment costed 45.00 and he gives me my prescription which I keep hold of and every month I take it in to the farmacia. Then it's just the cost of the pills. For me I take Yasminelle, a combined pill, which costs 11.00 a month. Cheaper than a baby..........

If you tell your doctor that you'd like to go on the pill, he/she will take an 'analasis' - blood test, urine test and typically blood pressure, to make sure you're not at any risk, tell you not to smoke and then it's up to you. The pill is not prescribed by standard doctors, you just buy it directly over the counter in a pharmacy. 1 packet costs about 6€ - cheaper than going private!!!
