New Indian resturant in Torrox Costa

Postby gerryh » Thu Aug 06, 2020 8:34 am

There is a new Indian restaurant, Old Goa Indian Restuarant, in Torrox Costa.
Been open about a week.
The owners had the Goa Town Indian Restuarant in Nerja but sold it in 2019 as they said the place was too small.
The Torrox place is larger with an outdoor seating area.
It is where Jacks Bar used to be in BLQ 86 bajo (West side).

Yes went last night.
My wife and I both enjoyed the food.
But I know food enjoyment is a very personal taste.
Service was a bit slow but it seemed like only one waiter and one cook on duty.
Probably waiting to see how their customer base builds up.

There is a 9.95 Menu del Dia which will please Mrs W.

A fair amount on the menu I don't recognise.

Yes, they do have dishes on their menu that you don't see on most "standard" Indian menus.
I will try to work my way through the non standard offerings.

Is there an indication of heat on the main menu Gerry, I only have the takeaway one.

No, no indication of heat using the number of chilli symbols you get on some menues.

 I've just spotted this  We may give it a try although Madras House on the main road is our current favourite.

Went here last night. Excellent meal and as has been mentioned some unusual dishes specific to them. We had Hundy and the strangest looking pasanda ever. Thouroughly enjoyed the food and are going back Saturday to try other specials...

On a different tack the waiter told us that our favourite Jaipur in Nerja has closed down. Cant get to their website so seems possible. Can anybody confirm?

Also read of a new Thai opened in Nerja, tutti frutti i think it's location is.

Walked past the Jaipur in Nerja yesterday morning.
It looks as it is still in business.
The door was open and it appeared they were getting the place ready for lunchtime service.

Thanks for the confirmation Gerry. Still get my chili chicken fix when i need it...

Btw had a fab meal at old goa saturday. There were 4 of us so had a greater selection of dishes. Some of them a little unusual for an indian restaurant, but enjoyed it immensely and came away having eaten far to much...

Jaipur did close temporarily, but it has been sold and after some refurbishment has opened again.

It's run by a couple of young Sikh lads from the Punjab who have worked in the Canaries and Ibiza.
