Fish / seafood Torremolinos

Postby Ursula » Tue Jan 02, 2007 3:08 pm

There are so many places to eat in Torremolinos - can anyone recommend any good or favourite fish / seafood bars. Doesn´t have to be posh! As long as the food is good I don´t mind.

Up the road a bit in Fuengirola - El Chipiron, up a side street beside the National Police Station (mosque end of town). Unpretentious, delicious, fresh, non-tourist (you will struggle if you have no Spanish, but you can go to the refrigerated display and point!). Place is empty at 8 pm, full by 9!

If you amble down San Miguel street there are some good places to eat - nice atmosphere, great food and not expensive.
I used to be indecisive but now I´m not so sure.

Personally don't like fish, so can't really recommend, but the place to head really is La Carihuela. There are so many good restaurants specialising in seafood, but Casa Juan seems to be the most popular among Spanish families and is always packed to the hilt Sunday lunchtimes.

Casa Juan was my favourite. First tried during the fish festival in early June( :?: ) Does the festival still happen?

Yes Ron, there is still the fish festival each year, but couldn't tell you exactly when - as I said, I don't like fish! Although I am rather partial to a plate of fried calamaritos (baby squid) at any of the chiringuitos along the beach - so long as it's washed down with an ice cold cerveza!

the morning of the fish festival all the resturants in the area give away free cerveza! It's usually the 1st Thursday in June and good fun

Casa Jauns in La Carihuela is by far the best fish restaurant in that area, I've eaten there many times over the years.
