Good Chinese Restaurants?

Postby El Pimpi » Mon Feb 05, 2007 2:52 pm

Anyone found a decent Chinese Restaurant in the Malaga/Marbella area? We love eating in local Spanish restaurants and ventas but do miss our Chinese nosh!!

Went to an OK one in Malaga, Campo de Arroz, but are there any other recommendations? We live in Coin by the way.

Cheers

There must be hundreds in the area you mention. They all seem about the same to me and they say that they all buy their menus from one central area. One I know in marbella is run jointly by the family that has one in granada and and another in málaga. There is one one in fuengirola that is very cheap and popular (near the train terminal) and another in fish alley that is ok. In banus there is a nice one frequented by (so they say!) celebs, not expensive. Could go on about many but don't know their names, all of them ok. none memorable. Sure they are some in your area not any worth making a journey to eat.

There is one on the Paseo Maritimo between Torreblanca and Los Boliches (almost next to the "official" tobacco shop).
Very unimpressive frontage - white, sixties style flat concrete :-(
however, apart from a "menu" that starts at leass than 5 euros, their a la carte dishes, and especially their Singapore noodles, are up their with the best.

The only good oriental type restaurants I have found in the marbella area are trader vics, tai pan and thai gallery.

El Pimpi,
Have you tried the Thai/Chinese restaurant opposit Lidl in Coin? Absolutely fab food and good prices, thoroughly recommended.
We've also eaten in the Golden Palace ( I think thats what it's called) in AEG just down the road from Solbank, again very nice.

We like China City 2 in the El Zoco centre near Calahonda. The place is always busy so it is advisable to reserve a table.

It's a bit further to travel but there is a good one in Mollina near Antequera, maybe worth a trip,

Take a day out and go to the Big Wok in Antequera. Set price buffet and fantastic food. Help yourself to hot / cold starters & main courses. Or get the chef to cook a dish for you whilst you stand and watch.

Only downside is charging full price for children over 7

That's the trouble with Chinese restaurants - when you have had one, you have to rush out and have another!

Agree with DaneinSpain, Tai Pan (chinese speak for "Big Boss") in Puente Romano, Marbella, is definitely one of the best in the area, take your credit cards with you though, not for the budget dwellers this one

Yeh Tai Pan is nice but prefer Zens crispy quack.

We tried Lime & Co on that list the other night but didn't think it was anything special but it isn't a chinese.

So many average restaurants on the coast it's annoying.

Majority of Chinese all buy from the same supplier how else would they be able to offer such an extensive menu when there are only about 6 people in the place. Do enjoy a chinese meal though.

You could try FU, near the repsol garage in the same road as the honda bike garage on the corner.

Staff are fantastic there, really helpful and nice, food is great and prices are ridiculously low, they have a lunch menu for 5.95 (3 COURSES) and a night menu for 7.95 again 3 courses. They also doi buffet for a set price, very good indeed.!
