"Coming "Home"

Postby disco_stu » Sun Aug 24, 2008 2:29 am

After spending just over a year in Brisbane Australia, and a whole lot of wonga, i'm on my way back to Spain.
You Lucky Things!!

I know it might not be nice for you lot but i hope the property market is on its ar5e cos i'm nearly skint!
What sort of prices would i be looking at for a 2/3 bed garden apt/ town house from mijas - estapona ?

can't wait to get back to civilisation

Why would you want to leave Australia to come here?
You will have your pick of properties, might not find any work to live here though.

Hi Disco... I just spent 4 weeks in Oz ( got back about 10 days ago) and I too couldnt wait to get back home to Spain, so you must be desperate after a year!!

We found the day to day living very expensive and quite over-rated at times, although there are some gorgeous parts, most of it wasnt what I had expected and was rather dull and mundane. Sydney was good though!

Hope you get sorted back in Spain

Log on to surinenglish, our local free paper. There are pages of properties to let which will give you a very good idea of prices, there seem to be more jobs going in the Marbella to Estepona area than between Marbella and Malaga at the moment. Good luck cobber, bring me a tinny ( but none of that Swan Lager swill).

Positive is that August is always quiet. Large percentage of those advertisements are from agents.

Negative is that the same thing happened in the early 90's. Probably not even a page. There were hardly any Estate Agents left. Suppose thats a positive too

correct Katy, and what has happened to property prices since the early 90´s? my appartment in marbella was worth about 20.000 euros in the early 90´s and about 300.000 now as the market is today, so the future´s looking good !
no one who doesn´t want to throw a few euros away would place a property ad in any august, everyone has different things on their mind in august, lke enjoying the national shutdown and having a deserved holiday.

Now is the time to look for an owner who is in desperate trouble with threat of foreclosure, bridging loans and two mortgages, preferably close to suicide because his family has left him because he has got them in a mess, then screw him down to a couple of hundred Euro per month for a long-term rent - including utility bills!

Back now

Postby disco_stu » Thu Jan 29, 2009 6:03 pm

Well folks you will be please to know that i'm back.
Gota 11month contract n a nice apt overlooking Ataylaya golf near benahavis. Not brave enough to buy yet but its nice not having all the ball ache of community fees and stuff.
Well I've gotto say i like Spain a whole lot better than Oz, a few old faces have gone and some new ones sat in there places, not as many bin ladens being flashed around and a lot more worried looks on ppls faces but if there is one thing good about recessions, they certainly sort out the wheat from the chaff!. The ex fireman/master builders are gone as are the ex secretary/interior designers.

Good to be back

Aldo :D

I just found it sterile and boring. People weren't particularly nice, dark at 5pm, no good bars/pubs. Only good thing was the natives mostly spoke English.
Where you going?
