House sold STC ... so here goes ... HELP!

Postby jukim » Tue Dec 02, 2008 1:10 pm

:D Hi all. After having our house here in the UK on the market since early May
(albeit reduced dramatically in price by now) we have now had a decent
offer which we've accepted. We now have to get back to the serious stuff of
moving which we'd put on the back burner with all the disappointments of the
house not selling.

Anyway, can anyone recommend reasonably-priced, realible movers from
Wiltshire to La Zubia nr Benamargosa for part loads? :? I will be carrying
on working for myself (autonomo) in Spain with mainly the same clients I
have here in the UK as it's all computer/internet based. I understand I will
need to pay something like 270 Euros a month which would cover myself and my
parter for medical stuff but I was wondering if anyone could help with the
rate of income tax that would need to be paid?

In fact, any helpful advice and tips would be greatly appreciated. :?

Firstly, (if you haven't done so) make sure there is a reliable broadband system in your area. Best to hire a Gestor to do all your tax matters.

Thanks katy, the landlords of the house we will be renting have installed broadband internet for us so we're okay there. I will be getting a Gestor to sort out my taxes and stuff but I just wanted to know if there was a ballpark percentage (best guess would help) of income tax payable on earnings. I would just like to know more or less what our outgoings would be. Thanks.

As an autónomo there are two options.

ESTIMACIÓN OBJETIVA / MODULOS. A fixed tax to be paid every three months. The amount you have to pay is determined by the tax office and is fixed regardless of what you earn. (maximum income 450.000 €/year and not available for all activities). Once you choose this taxation, you have to remain in it for 4 years before changing (unless this has been changed recently).

ESTIMACIÓN DIRECTA. Every three months you pay 20% of income less expenses. This amount is then regulated in May of the following year with the income tax declaration (renta), depending on your income you may get a tax return or may have to pay more. An autónomo can pay up to 45%.

The VAT declaration is also quarterly.

Either Euromovers (the wonderful Big Col) or SpainUKSpain (Stewart)...both of whom come HIGHLY recommended: VERY reasonable rates, totally reliable and bend-over-backwards helpful !!
Beware David Bush at all costs!!!
(PS. I'm just a satisfied (and dissatisfied) customer in that order -- no other connection! )
