NIE updating
Hola I have an NIE which was issued about 6yrs ago in Murcia. We now have our address in Granada province. Do I have to update my NIE and if so what are the procedures and where to go!?
Wanting to buy a car to be registered at our new address so will need to use the NIE.
Any help gratefully received...
Gracias
John

Hi,
"Are you resident or non resident?"..........does it make any difference .........NIE is for life......

Re: NIE updating
If it is purely a non-resident NIE you don't have to advise change of address but if it is a NIE which was incorporated in registration as a citizen of an EU member state you do.
Re: NIE updating
Some people confuse an NIE with a residencia or vice versa. Maybe cids thinking that? If its actually a residencia the address needs updating. And some NIE certificates state they are only valid for three months.a dealership may want an upto date one. I wouldnt think the address you have on a NIE/res makes any dfference to which address the car is registared to. The padron is used for that so make sure you have a upto date one for the dealer to use presuming you are residentEnrique wrote:Hi,

Re: NIE updating
I very much doubt Cid would make that mistake.

Re: NIE updating
It will either be an old NIE if non resident or the new green Certificate/card for a foreigner resident in Spain. If it is the latter, that will have to be updated because the OP is moving. If it is just an NIE it doesnt need changing.
However, in the first case, you do, potentialy, need an up to date copy (less than 3 months old). If you are a resident you may need an upto date Padron certificate.
The actual law is pretty clear but as always it depends where you are. This has been discussed before

Re: NIE updating
Theres no mistake from cid .im talking about the o.p maybe confusing an NIE with a residencia.cids asking if the O.P is a resident or not. If the op is a resident he should have a residencia which does need updating. Some people (maybe the op???) Confuse a NIE with a residencia. And as cid said if hes not a resident and just has an NIE then you dont update the address on itcostakid wrote:I very much doubt Cid would make that mistake.

Non resident just holidays! We have for now a casita(park home)on a campsite. On the responses I guess we don’t need to update.

Re: NIE updating
Sorry for butting in on this thread...but after reading it, am I right in saying that if I have moved house and in possession of an A4 sized green certificate I will need to renew it?

Re: NIE updating
I want to update my address and passport details on my 'residencia' (whoever thought of that term wants shooting) and the first appointment was well after the original Brexit day. This in January.
All to do with the issuing of the TIE after Brexit when we will be treated as non-europeans naturally.

Re: NIE updating
My residencia doesn't show any passport details and I have never considered telling anyone that I changed my passport.

Re: NIE updating
I think they will normally want to see your passport and require a copy. It may not be on the list of requirements, like photos, but that doesn’t mean they won’t ask for it.

Re: NIE updating
Agree Sid - they asked for ours but there was no space on the certificate for the number(s).
