I too would be interested if you can pay IBI, Endesa, water companies’ dds with a wise account. (Non resident home owner with unicaja).

I thought wise was just a transfer account rather than an actual bank account?? Also make sure you check if these accounts have protection cover if they go under as some dont. Basically keep the minimum amount needed in.

Ive read of people being able to use N26 for DD's

I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure Wise do not have a full banking facility. Not sure if they could pay standing orders, and issue you with a debit card say.

I have used them 3/4 times recently to transfer euros to my account. It happens in seconds, and a better rate than the Caxton card I used in the past for holiday spending ( topping the card up now and again when I liked the rate ). Last time in Spain, ok, almost two years ago now, I noticed all except one bank were charging for the use of Caxton cards at cash points, probably all at this stage.

Wise is the better option. Better rate and no fees either at the cash point, as the money is already in my account, and no fees on transferring the money in.

Like Revolut, Wise is a is a financial technology company that offers banking services, but is not actually a fully fledged bank in the UK. They do offer direct debits and a debit card but the only thing to bear in mind is that you do not have the same protection if they go belly-up. You can get your pension and other regular pay paid in but personally I wouldn't let it mount up. I have been using Wise a while now and am very impressed. I have saved hundreds of pounds over that time compared to what my UK bank was charging for transferring money here.

Many thanks to those who have taken the time to reply. I’ve confirmed by Comunidad is okay with a Wise IBAN from Belgium. Just need electricity, water and council to be equally flexible.

Just joined Wise. VERY impressed, at joining speed, speed of transfer, exchange rate and costs. Eager to know if electricity and water and ibi will accept dds.

Endesa don’t seem to like the Belgium IBAN (BE) that wise use.

So are there any non resident accounts that are fee free. A poster on another board suggested Cajamar but I don’t know them.

N26 now no longer any good for Brits since Brexit. I’ll take a look at openbank but it seems most online offerings don’t allow non residents.

Nope. One of the first openbank statements is that you “have to reside in Spain”.
