Faulty Towers The Original Dining Experience - Officially the world’s longest running dining experience. Coming to 8 different venues from Nerja to Gibraltar this hilarious dinner/show has the diners rolling around laughing all evening. A 3 course dinner is served by Basil, Sybil and Manuel, thankfully aided by the waiting staff at each venue, as total chaos reigns in true "Fawlty Towers" fashion.

Please contact each venue for specific details.

I see they are cleared but i thought ads were banned. Are they a forum sponsor?

I cannot understand how this advertisement post is compatible with the Forum rule (2-1 Advertising, para.1) on advertising of commercial services by members. A paid-for display ad is one thing, but using thread-slots is surely quite another matter. Could Admin please clarify?

He who pays the piper...etc etc! WHERE DO YOU THINK THE MONEY TO KEEP THE FORUM AND SITE COMES FROM? Government Grants?

I couldn't have put it better myself.

Anyway, the decision to allow some paid advertising of events was made some time ago by the management of A.com and that decision is unlikely to change any time soon.

Thanks, Sid.
Quite understand the economics of the Forum, and the need for income.
In that case, Rule 2-1 Advertising needs revision, to make it clear that the rule does not apply to the Events section.
As the rule stands, the above post is in breach of the Rule.

You're right. It should have been included. I will add it to the rules.

I thought the somewhat intrusive adverts top and bottom of the threads paid for the site. I was surprised to see this blatant advert allowed as a thread. But I can see that it does come under the category of Events ... some adjustment to the Rules will suffice then ...

Me too. I currently have one for Brittany ferries and Air Canada. However, it's their forum, they can do what they like.

Sounds different anyway. lots of venues. Anyone going?

Many people have add blockers so the random adds at the top and bottom of the forum are blocked out, not great news for the paying advertisers but i guess that's the chance they take.It seems the events one included in this thread have got round that one which isn't so bad, everyone i assume likes to know whats on!

I have modified the House Rules and added this paragraph to the section on advertising.:-

One exception to this rule applies to the “Events” topic. Notices about upcoming events, posted by commercial organisers may be allowed, but only with the express permission of Andalucia.com management.

I see there is now a second large advertisement from the same source, opening in a second post.
By all means let there be advertisements on the Forum, but not positioned as posts which simply appear as normal topics and threads.

If the Events section is to continue (no problem with that), then it should be a section that readers need to select - to find out what's on - and not one that displays itself automatically as a regular "new post".

This hasn't been an issue to date, and no reason why it should now be causing concern, which it obviously is. The forum rule on advertising was sensibly written - to prevent just this - so it seems sensible to ensure posts adhere to that rule, and not blatantly get circumvent it.

Cure is to hike Events out of the list of normal forum sections which automatically display themselves.

Just seen the rewritten Rule, which doesn't actually solve the problem, on reflection.

I agree with you costakid.

This is not a democracy, it's a forum within a commercial (and very succesful website that has been awarded a number of awards).

The forum is a tiny part of it, unfortunately 99% of forum members do not even realise the primary website exists as they just auto login to the forum so end up with little idea of how it exists within a commercial organisation.

Ultimately, if this gives anyone a problem, there are plenty of other fora which may suit them better.
