Fleas

Postby Lyric » Mon Sep 15, 2008 1:18 pm

Is there a product for flea eradication ? we are not sure of the source at present, could be the beds, could be the cat that visited in the night. Something needs to be done before wife becomes manic. Last day in Spain tomorrow until the final move in October so ideally need suggestions fairly quickly. Frigiliana / Nerja or Eroski at Velez are about the range for shopping.

There is a white plastic bottle with green writing on, trying to remember the name, Biokill I think, you can spray it inside beds and on anything. You probably already know but fleas are called pulgas in spanish. Very effective.

The vet will sell you some frontline for the house, its a different thing than you spray on the animals, last 12 months, excellent stuff
No soporto ver la casa sucia, ahora mismo me levanto y apago la luz.

Thanks both, found (was shown) some stuff in Eroski which beloved is happy with so we will see.
It's our own fault, in lieu of A/C when we go out we leave doors open to keep the place cool and in comes the cat.

You need to treat everywhere again in a week as the sprays are not effective against the eggs. It took us ages to eradicate them as you only need to miss one flea to get re-infected all over again and they can go dormant for long periods of time if there is no food source around.

Only just read this. After giving our cat Frontline the vet also gave us what he called a a 'bomb' which is placed in the middle of the house and kills all fleas and eggs. Had to put the cat in her cage and put her outside. We too had to go out for 2/3 hours whilst it took effect.

My dogs both have frontline combi. This month they both started itching about a week before their next dose was due and are still scratching three days later! Do dogs become immune to this stuff and is there a good alternative?
