Some stainless steels are magnetic and some explanation is found here, as well as some of the alloying elements

I think "Fettle" is a Yorkshire word. My Grandather had a steel/tool factory and I seem to remember there was a "fettling shop". We used to laugh about it. Unfortunately he is not around to ask!

Too right... yet another example of 'folk' sayings having a sound foundation in fact!!!! ...PS I'm still watching the 'oxi' stuff and hoping it's gonna save the day....oooerr :shock:

Are you saying my saucepan is CHEAP????? :shock: :shock: :shock: :evil: :evil:(Someone have mercy on you cos my mum gave them to me and heaven help anyone who accuses her of being a cheapskate......ARRRGGHHHH! you must be tired of living :lol: :lol: )

coulnd be bothered to read all the replys but if you have a prob with the inside of the pan

boil up some coca cola in it
that works according to mrs frog
