Hi,
This year I have a gross green/yellow strip at the water level on our painted pool, which I think is caused by suncream. Has anyone else had this and got rid of it successfully..?
Suncream 'tidemark'
Re: Suncream 'tidemark'
We've had it on our pool. I am sure that you are correct regarding sun cream. The colour is a consequence of the chlorine. I've found that a gentle scrub with a soft brush is usually enough to get rid of it.

Yes, just scrub everyone with a soapy brush before they get in the pool

We bought some liquid from a swimming pool shop. Safe and you can stand in the pool to do it. Just squirt on a cloth and it wipes away. Cost about 9 euro and lasts ages.

I'm sure that washing up liquid would be just as effective at a 10th of the price.
It amazes me the huge markup that you can ask for a simple product just because it is for a "special" use! Take pool algicide at €7 a litre. It contains 10 cents worth of Copper Sulphate and the rest is water.

Re: Suncream 'tidemark'
You might be joking, but it's a good point. People should shower before using the pool to get any sun cream off.El Cid wrote:Yes, just scrub everyone with a soapy brush before they get in the pool

No I wasn't joking.
If they don't want a scrub then they have to go through the Agua Fuerte sheep dip

Nitric Acid does a good job,
See? No sun cream at all!
