ugly looking log burner

Postby oliveview01 » Sat Jan 28, 2012 5:03 pm

Our Bronpi corner log burner is looking ugly, again. Every time we paint it and then use it the paint burns off, so at the moment we have a mostly white log burner.
We have tried different brands/type of special paint, all have the same effect. We rubbed down the top and sides, taking off all loose paint and dust. This time we used the special Bronpi log burner spray paint not cheap. Thé effect was thé same as all the other paints we have used. We just do not know what to do! Any suggestions?

We got some heat resistant paint from Leroys (I think) - not specifically for estufas, but they were mentioned. I painted it in Sep and we used it constantly over the Christmas & New Year visit - still looking good.
Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the paint and we're in UK at the moment, but back n Spain at the end of Feb, so I will look it out and post again !

We used:

TITAN Anticalórifica - Pintura Negra Satinado

It worked very well, except for a bit of a smell for a few weeks, burt not enough to put you off your dinner. I cannot remember where we bought it, but Titan is very common. It stayed on for a whole heating season, but we then replaced the woodburner in any case, so I cannot say how many seasons it would last.

I can recommend this product but i bought in the UK on Amazon, i do not know if it can be bought in Spain. It is a small tin and goes a long way so it is easy to carry from the UK if not available in Spain.

Hope this helps

Now back in Spain, and as promised, here is the name of the paint we used:

made by Titan, it is called Anticalorica, pintura negra satinada. I think it came from Leroys, but I think Titan is a common brand in Spain ?

It is very easy to apply with a brush and doesn't leave streaky brush marks

The stove still looks good  :D

Edited to say I hadn't realised this had already been recommended by Alan LaCala
