Concreting a track

Postby paultaylor » Fri Jan 24, 2014 12:30 pm

Hi,

Not really DIY, pools and home improvement, but I couldn't find a better location to ask... Me and some of my neighbours are going to concrete some bad sections of our track.

We have one quote from a company in Vélez-Málaga. Does anyone know of any other reputable companies that could also quote?

For info we are near Arenas / Algarobbo and the work would be for about 100-200 meters in total.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Cheers,
Paul

Have you spoken to your local Ayuntamiento?
Ours had a EU grant for improving/ concreting tracks. Ours was done at no cost to ourselves.

Track past our house is concrete and was breaking up. Particularly as it is quite a sleep slope and our entrance is part way down it, repairs were essential. The Ayuntamiento agreed it was their responsibility so they did it. Can't say they did a particularly good job, just concrete on top of the old concrete, but at least it is no longer full of pot holes. It also took over a year and a lot of complaining to get it done, but cost us nothing.
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!

Sayalonga Ayuntamiento has the following deal on main campo tracks (NOT for private back-tracks or driveways):
- Ayuntamiento organises and pays for all preparation, and labour
- Residents pay for concrete and reinforcing steel.

Grants from EU are possible, but may take a year for the Ayto. apply for and get, if accepted.

Concrete grade should be 200/B/25 for roads carrying heavy trucks, and laid to a minimum depth of 15cm. Reinforcing steel (6m x 2.2m sheet) needs to be only 5mm gauge, and a single layer of.

Hope helpful.

Hi All,

Thanks very much for your replies!

On the EU grant issue, is it the Ayuntamiento that has to instigate the procedure?

Does anyone have any experience of arranging this in Arenas (Vélez-Málaga)?

Cheers!

Hi Paul
You and your neighbours need to ask your local Ayuntamiento if they can help/ will help. Anyway even if they can't you still need to speak to them for a works licence to carry out the work yourselves.
We come under the Velez Malaga Ayuntamiento but it was our local, Cajiz, Ayuntamiento who had the money for the work.
Cheers
