Filter sand

When you change the filter sand in a pool how much replacement sand do you put in. I realise it depends on size but is it half full or more? Thanks

I can only tell you what I did

Mine stands about 700mm tall and I filled it to just below the black water distribution, mushroom shaped thing that sits just below the see-through, bolted down top....if any of that makes sense :?:

In your terminology I guess that's about 5/8 up to 3/4 full and it was (if I recall accurately) about 5 bags of "arena parra piscinas"

When I changed the sand in my filter I used the exact amount of 325kg shown in the specifications for the filter and it came to a couple of centimetres above the top pipe. If you can see the pipe or touch it with your fingertips it is not enough. If you cannot reach it by ploughing your hand into the sand it is too much.

Anyway, there should be a label on the filter stating how much sand to put in.

Hands and knees and a shovelling contraption that'll fit in the hole in the top! :lolno:

Nothing Hi Tech I'm afraid......but I guess someone will come along soon with the definitive way to do it...........but by the time that's happened and you've sourced whatever gadget is best, you might as well get shovelling!

Maybe one of those vacuums aimed at emptying ash might do it? Lidl currently have them.
