External pre paint treatment

Postby ashtondav » Mon Sep 28, 2020 12:23 pm

Our pool room external walls have suffered from damp and mould from draining flower pots above.

When I scrape the old paint and mould off I’m obviously left with a surface that will not accept new plastico. What is the spanish brand or treatment I need to apply before painting with external paint to ensure the paint adheres to the surface. Hopefully something that can be bought from Leroy Merlin or local I’m assuming it will be some form of cemento.

Thanks.

Emucril - Fijador Altas Prestaciones

You can buy it in Leroy Merlin / Bauhaus or try Amazon.es

Mix with water and apply to the area to be painted approx 10 - 15 minutes before painting. Acts a a sealant and glue.

Have used it very successfuly many times.

Meant to say, it is a liquid and can be applied by brush or roller.

Thanks for that. I can’t see that brand online at Leroy but seem to have plenty other fijadores.

I’ll take a look later this week.

Thanks again.

Thanks. Surprisingly Leroy had nothing but picked up A similar brand in Bauhaus.

i´ve used PVA glue before.. mixed 1-1 with water. It was bought in a litre bottle, from the paint shop.

I run a professional painting company https://surreypaintinggroup.co.uk/, and I'd recommend first cleaning the areas before using a stabilising primer, prior to decorating outside.
