External tiling & sub-base

Postby Mikey-essex » Mon May 01, 2023 8:35 pm

Hey good forum fellas
Tips on how to lay external (pool-side) tiles in Spain? Do we use reinforced concrete base (100-200mm thick) and lay on top or what do you suggest?

Any ideas welcome and greatly appreciated 👍🏻

When I did mine, it was to a plastic 8x4 pool and I compacted all the soil around then laid the tiles on about 100mm of concrete. After a while it sank a bit and I repaired it, but I should have put down metal reinforcing mesh in the concrete. If doing it again that is what I would do. Ensure you have a slight fall away from the pool and drainage for the heavy rain, when it comes.

Thank you for the reply
We have done it now. 4 inch steel reinforced concrete with drainage channels in, then tiled over. Expensive job but now it's done I don't regret it one bit.
