My Spanish neighbour keeps bees. Can I pass on any questions for you?

Hi. I searched for bees and found this…

Does anyone know the feasibility of beekeeping in central Almeria province at 108 m (356 ft) elevation?

With the extreme heat of the summer is it likely to be a problem?

the bee keepers are having big problems with some disease the bees seem to have, they are dropping like flies(or like bees)no one seems to have discovered exactly what is happening to the bees, but the industry has big difficulties at present.

Hi Julian.

Yes, I’m aware of the problems for bees generally in Western Europe.

It’s not as new as some make out. When I worked for the Central Science Laboratory in Slough back in the mid 90s they already had a special bee unit looking into population fall and diseases.

It’s one of the reasons that I feel it is worth getting into beekeeping.

Ask Lavanda, she said she was/is a bee-keeper.
