Just buy a 1Terabyte external hard drive and store your stuff on that. Why rely on someone else?

As others have said, hard drives fail frequently. If you want secure backup on external devices you need 3 devices with one preferably kept in a fireproof safe away from your premises. Cloud storage is much safer because they follow industry standard backup and redundancy procedures.

Fair enough. Maybe it is cheaper to pay a few quid or euros to back stuff up to the cloud. Each to their own.
