I was having a problem with iTunes and needed to reinstall it.
I had performed this operation once before, some years ago, so thought it would be easy !
Firstly I uninstalled, from "programmes" all the elements of iTunes : ( as I had done previously)
1) iTunes
2) Quicktime
3) Appleware Update
4) Apple Mobile Device Support
5) Bonjour
6) Apple Application Support.
I then downloaded itunes from the internet ( apple )
However when I opened the "set-up" it would not install; instead told me "A newer version of iTunes is already installed on this computer"
I cannot see any trace of iTunes on my computer
Can anyone please advise how I can get iTunes installed? ( as tech-free as possible please !)
Thankyou
JB
Getting iTunes
Re: Getting iTunes
Interesting update:
My original download was a result of Googling "Itunes download". I then selected the first link ( support.apple.com)
As explained, it would not install.
I have just ( quite recklessly, for me ) decided to try a different link. This time I googled "Latest Itunes download"
This time I selected the "Techspot" link. ( a bit scary for me!) and downloaded from there.........success!
Problem solved, but if anyone is interested enough to let me know their opinion of what happened,I'd be delighted to hear it.
Thankyou
JB

Re: Getting iTunes
Hi jonbar.1
Did you Reboot computer after uninstalling iTunes........... ......... do it and try again with the install......
Do a Google search............"A newer version of iTunes is already installed on this computer after using Windows uninstall"
And work through any likely procedures.
Today's Tip........ always use Revonunistaller to uninstall programs.............it takes out files MS doesn't ..........

Re: Getting iTunes
Thanks Enrique.
I did reboot.
I also used "IOBit" uninstaller, which gets rid of all the remaining bits.
I also uninstalled all the elements in the correct order.
As you can see from my update I did, later, Google for the latest download. This worked perfectly.
I was a bit worried about whether "Techspot" was a reliable download site; but obviously it is.
Thanks for your usual, highly informative response Enrique.

Re: Getting iTunes
I love my iPhone and IPad because it does so much well. However, I hate ITunes and the complicated way to get music and video onto the two gadgets.
It’s something that windows and Android does much better and simpler.
Thank god for streaming which means, at least for me, ITunes is redundant,

Funny how you use this forum to ask a simple question( asking for advice) .Suddenly some people feel the need to join in,not to help, but to voice their opinions.
Fortunately I got a good answer from Enrique.

Re: Getting iTunes
Fórums are all about opinions. If you ask a question and when it’s answered expect the thread to stop, you clearly don’t know how forums work.
This thread is about iTunes and you will get lots of posts about iTunes, not just your minor problem with it.
