Use Alt 156 from your numeric keypad on a normal keyboard.
If you have a laptop then you MUST use the keypad made up from the letters centered around I. This you turn on usually from a function key F10 but which one depends on your laptop manufacturer.
Or you can plug in an external keyboard of course.
Due to the high cost of energy, the light at the end of the tunnel will be shut off until further notice.

Here is a repeat of a reply I gave erlier to a similar question:-

I use a small utility called allchars from http://allchars.zwolnet.com/

This just sits in the background waiting to be used. To use it you press the Ctrl key then the keys that make up the character eg
key presses Ctrl 1 2 give ½
key presses Ctrl L - give £
key presses Ctrl ? ? give ¿
If you don't have a Spanish keyboard you can use it for all Spanish accented letters.
NB you just press one key at a time, not 3 keys togother.
It is a very easy to use and free utility.

Cheers

A very simple way if you have Microsoft Word go to Insert and then click on Symbol and then you have a several symbols, including the Pound sign, to choose from.
