Telefonica ... normal??

Postby Busymum » Fri Feb 13, 2009 10:53 am

Ok, just wondering has anyone had this problem too??

I have a landline had it for 3 weeks when it stopped working ... I called telefonica they said they would make a report ... 7 days later a technian came to my appartment ... plugged a little box in the socket he said to see if there was a ´signal´.... went outside ... then he called me from his mobile to tell me my phone was now working! GREAT!

NOT SO GREAT! Telefonica have now charged me 50€ for fixing the landline!! The techincian did nothing in the house!! I called them this morning and they said it was a normal charge for mending the line!!! I have argued with them about this and they said they will make a report and to wait 7 to 8 days to see what they decide!!!

Am I being strange expecting not to pay for a service to rectify something that wasn´t my fault???

That does sound unusual. Normally all line faults are repaired free.

The exception to this is if the fault is inside the house. All new installations should have a small box where the line comes into the house. The house phones are wired into this box. When the engineer has to check for a fault, he plugs it into the test socket in this small box. If his phone works then the problem must be with the wiring after the box and if so, he will charge you to fix it as his responsibility ends at that box.

What you have said he did does not seem to fall into this category so you should not have been charged.

I know if you cannot have a normal line installed and need say, a radio phone, they will charge you for their 'specialist technicians' if you need to call them out whatever the problem is....
