I get a strong blue light indicating good speed when I have the dongle attached to my pc. when I attach it to the docking station I get a green light on the dongle which is slow but at leats I can use my laptop through the wireless connection but I can use my PC at the same time as I get a server connection error...anyone got any ideas...given up a bit with the suoplier as he's very slow to get back to me if at all
Many thanks

Re: Vigsys docking station
Hi metalmonkey,
Gerry could be your man here ....Search on Forum for vigsys
I take it you have come across the FAQ's on the product ......
http://www.vigsys.net/prod_faq.html
In the mean time............Are you using the Model VD30
When you move the dongle to the docking station do you reboot the PC
Have you tried connecting the PC directly to the docking station and doing a reboot
One thing I would do is power everything off, have the dongle in the docking station and then power it on, once that is up ,bring up the PC and then the Laptop.
Lets know how you get on, thanks.

Re: Vigsys docking station
Hi yes tried all that...today I had the PCconnceted to the docking station via cable and a continuous light on the dongle BUT NO light on the docking station to show that it was working on wireless, the company told me to check if my PC was using ethernet or wireless ...i'm not a teci and all this is driving me bonkers...just getting very frustrated. The shop told me to watch the video on installation but it shows a guy attaching it to a alp top and everything just works straight away so nothing about possible problems...
This may seem a stupid thing to say but I am supposed to be attaching the docking station to my PC and not the lap top....aren't I
sorry to bea bit dense

Re: Vigsys docking station
Hi Metalmonkey
Lets start from the beginning.
Do you have the Vigsys connected to your desk top PC via an Ethernet/RJ45 cable?
Which model modem do you have? Huawei E220?
What colour light does your modem show?
Can you connect to the internet, via Vigsys OK?
Have you altered anything in http://192.168.0.1 ?
The Wireless Access Point light on the Vigsys only flashes occasionally but flashes more frequently when a wireless device is trying to access it. It does not flash continuously.
Does your laptop normally work OK on other WiFi setups?
Cheers
Gerry

Re: Vigsys docking station
Hi metalmonkey,
The fact that the laptop works wireless through the Docking station , you can use this to check the network settings.
Have you the VD30_UserGuide.pdf In Appendix A Troubleshooting, it shows you how to find the IP address of your system.
Or you can click on the wireless icon in the bottom right hand side of your screen.
Please post the laptop IP, it should be a private network address starting 192.168. or 10.0 or 169. or 172.16
If its not stating with those just post the first two blocks of numbers. I'm expecting 192.168.0.2 or above.
On the PC:
Has the PC a wireless card I suspect not so you will only be able to connect that direct to the Docking station.
From the Manual....
"After connecting a network cable between your computer and the LAN port of the router,
if your computer fails to access the network including the web-based utility from the
router, then the network port of your computer may not support Auto MDI/MDIX.
Replace the network cable with a crossover network cable (included in this package) and
the problem should be solved."
I see Gerry ( he has a Vigsys) is on the case best if only one of us posts so I'll stand down for now.
I will monitor this Thread.
List of supported USB modems........

Re: Vigsys docking station
Hi thanks for coming back to me, I have a feeling that it could be something really simple that I am overlooking
Hi Metalmonkey
Lets start from the beginning.
Do you have the Vigsys connected to your desk top PC via an Ethernet/RJ45 cable? yes the one that came with the docking station
Which model modem do you have? Huawei E220? Yes
What colour light does your modem show? Green when in docking station, blue when on a USB lead
Can you connect to the internet, via Vigsys OK? My laptop can connect but I can't use the PC when the lap top is connected
Have you altered anything in http://192.168.0.1 ? No
The Wireless Access Point light on the Vigsys only flashes occasionally but flashes more frequently when a wireless device is trying to access it. It does not flash continuously. Good to know that as I thought I should get a continuous light
Does your laptop normally work OK on other WiFi setups? Yes usually no problems
To be fair the guy who sold it to me told me to send it back for a refund or get a techie in to sort it for me....but I desperately want it to work...
Many thanks for the help

Re: Vigsys docking station
Hi metalmonkey,
Does the PC work when connected directly (RJ45)to the docking station with the laptop turned off
I remember Gerry asking me about the direct connect cable when we were setting his up, as normally you would use a straight through cable from the PC to the LAN port on the docking station.
From reading the manual you would normally only use the cross over cable if your Ethernet card didn't support Auto MDI/MDIX. Have you tried connecting with a straight through RJ45 cable and......... ping 192.168.0.1 ( the Docking station)
The two small computer screen icons in the bottom right of your PC screen, click on them and lets know the info in the "General" and "Support" Tabs

Lets tackle one problem at a time.metalmonkey wrote: Green when in docking station, blue when on a USB lead
Go into http://192.168.0.1
If it asks for login id and password enter admin into both.
You should then get a screen up BASIC and USB MODEM highlighted
Under "Service Mode Network" which of the 3 buttons is checked?
Should be Auto
Cheers

Hi metalmonkey,
Had any luck yet?
Not seen a reply. Does that mean you have solved the problem or cannot connect at all?
Cheers
