the problem is that it keeps telling me that I am outside of the UK even though I have copied the instructions down to the last letter - twice!

I'm also getting the same message - have tried downloading everything on more than one occasion, but have never managed to get it to work - must be a reason why?

Are you SURE that you are using a UK proxy?
I can post screen shots of my (working) set up if that will help! Just ask .

Well am assuming so as I copied the proxy address that Mark said was working on the 19th. If I change the proxy do I need to enter ever thing again or can I edit the proxy details?

I have prepared a list of instructions for Foxy Proxy, complete with screen shots of my (working) set up.
To avoid clogging up the forum with a BIG posting, I have uploaded it to my web space with Telefonica. It is in .rtf format, so should open OK in Wordpad, which all of you will have, if you run Windows.
If you wish to see it, click the link below!

Yes, BBC iPlayer download function requires Adobe Air to be installed and even with the given URL pattern for downloads (not the same as for streaming), the Air application seems to see through the proxy!
I've given up on downloads, even though it would be a good alternative when bandwidth is not good enough for streaming.
If anyone has an answer to this I'd love to know!

I can't download either, I think that's normal. But it works a treat for just for watching.

Has anybody found out yet how to watch Channel 4 or Five?

The only way i have been able to download is to use a proxy in IE. As I use UKnova to download programs I might have missed that I want to watch I normally don't bother doing it

Try it ...It's really good

http://www.uknova.com/

It's a torrent service. and the quality is decent normally DIVX or MKV and can be watched on a big screen TV if you have the right player

Thanks for the UKNova link, Mark!
Our urb's SKY TV has been partially out of action since the beginning of January and we've been struggling with IPlayer & FilmOn, so this is a help.
Lots of soaps for SWMBO, no US crime shows for me on UKNova, but there's BTJunkie for that genre, plus other "stuff", too.
Currently downloading the first three episodes of one show we both like! One, as a test is in HD, so I'll be interested to see how that looks, compared with the other two.

Hmm - the HD is a .mkv file which Windows Media Center won't play. I can play it using VLC, but it's a bit jerky. Looks like my video card, (no memory of it's own, but up to quite a lot (!) reserved from main RAM) isn't up to the job.

If you have windows 7 you can play mkv files in WMP or windows media center . but the codec needs to be downloaded from DIVX .
DIVX player 7 will play them. But on a computer, high definition files need a minimum dual core processor
I have a TV that has a USB socket that will play them too.
To play them on the PS3 they need to be converted to VOB files which is very straight forward and only takes around 90 seconds to do.

If anyone is thinking of buying a a media player, look for one that can playback MKV files

Thanks for the tip, Mark.
I downloaded the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) from Matroska,
( http://www.matroska.org/downloads/windows.html ) and after installing it not only will the .mkv play perfectly in Windows Media Center, but there is the added bonus of Media Player Classic Home Cinema, an old favourite of mine!
There IS a pronounced quality difference between a normal .avi and this .mkv file.I also converted the .mkv file to .avi, but the quality of the output is not good, but at least it will play on my LG DVD/VCR player!

Probably cause a few groans by reviving this topic, but I decided to give it a go tonight, have tried every proxy mentioned throughout this thread and some, and every single attempt has just timed out.
Anyone got one working now (or even recently) that I can try?

213.229.73.211 3128 was working earlier
remember if it doesn't work the first time ,try again because it may be that the server is overloaded and avoid the ones that say Planetlab/CoDeeN proxy as they don't often work.

91.186.16.23, port 80, worked for me last night. I watched the Six Nations Rugby pre-series analysis with no problems at all.
Granted, it took a few re-loads to connect, but once running it was fine.

Bingo! Thanks Mark.
I think I may have just been having problems last night in general - even the BBC home page was timing out! Anyway, it's working. Now, can anybody tell me - is there anything worth watching??!!
