Hi Julie
Happy new year
To receive High definition pictures you will need to buy the HDMI cable. You will need a HD ready TV as well.
Good Luck

Yes, unlike its competitors, the Humax comes with a cable.

Anyone know where we could buy one of these in the Velez Malaga area, looked on their website and Barcelona is the only place in Spain I found.

Do you mean the Humax box or the cable?

If you want the box, buy it from Amazon UK - the cables are sold in Eroski.

Have a look in your local Bazaar shops - I was amazed to see a HDMI cable for 6E.
AND - either an HDMI cable works or it dont work - The're are no better in signal the more you pay.
Paying more is a waste of money

The really surprising thing I found about the Humax is how well it worked on a single LNB feed.

You have the ability to split the input across both tuners and with a bit of luck, depending on which programs you are trying to watch/record you can get away with it. I managed to record two channels and watch another with a single LNB.

I have since upgraded to a twin LNB and that makes life easier.

I bought my Humax box from Argos and noticed the offer of the half price cable. However, other sires advertised the Humax box as coming with the cable.

I queried this with Argos and was told that, yes, the box does come with a cable, the offer is in case you want another one. Seemed a strange answer. I bought the box and indeed there was an HDMI cable included in the box.

So, to answer the original question, NO, you do not need to buy another cable.

It would also depend on the price. Many boxes come without an HDMI cable and to have another spare wouldn't be a bad idea, as they can cost up to 30 euros
Most new AV , HIFI, equipment comes with HDMI sockets these days not to mention it's the best way to to plug your laptop into the TV
I've had to buy 3 or four and the cheapest one was the half price one from Argos at 5 pounds

The original question was whether a separate cable is required to go with the Humax box from Argos. It isn't necessary, Humax pack one in the box.

If you want a spare, fine, but it isn't needed when purchasing the item in question.

Yes you are correct however, I moved the conversation on from there
My advice would still be if you can get a HDMI cable for a fiver. buy it
I have bought 2 high definition freesat receivers, a PS3, a media player and a high definition home cinema system all which need the cable, but none of them had one, so I had to buy them and they are expensive in Spain even carrefour 's cheapest is 20 euros
It's only my advice. it 's up to the individual to make the decision

Point taken. Same reason I have a pile of Scart cables in the garage, and I have had to raid the pile occasionally.

The Alba range of freesat HD boxes come with a HDMI cable but they didn't used to. Just had a look through a few catalogues at cable prices. Argos £5 upwards (but that one one is short) , Maplin £20 upwards and CPC £1.69+vat upwards (although is a very short one) Generally about £4 for a decent 2m length in the latters' cat so you can see the mark up.
